Provided is a method and apparatus for selecting a channel in a wideband high frequency wireless system. The channel selection method may include: generating a channel scanning request frame that includes a channel bitmap, wherein the channel bitmap denotes information regarding a channel to be scanned by a neighboring device; transmitting the channel scanning request frame to the neighboring device; receiving a channel scanning response frame corresponding to the channel scanning request frame; and selecting a channel for a communication with the neighboring device, based on the channel scanning response frame.

Disclosed is a technique relating to a method and to an apparatus for setting up a relay link in order to transmit a data frame using a relay in a wireless communication system. According to the technique, provided is a method in which a source station sets up a relay link in a wireless communication system, wherein the method comprises: a step of receiving, from an access point or a PCP, capability information of at least one or more relay support stations of the wireless communication system; a step of selecting one of the relay support stations as a relay station, using the beamforming information among the source station, a destination station and the relay support stations, and the received capability information; a step of transmitting a relay link setup request frame to the destination station; and a step of receiving, from the destination station, a relay link setup response frame containing information on the result of the relay link setup, wherein the relay link setup request frame and the relay link setup response frame pass through the relay station.

The present invention relates to a coordinator communication method, comprising: receiving a relay search request frame for requesting the search for at least one relay device between a destination device and a source device; and transmitting a relay search response frame including a list of the at least one relay device in response to the relay search request frame, whereby the source device is able to select a target relay device from the at least one relay device.

A method and apparatus for setting up a relay link to transfer a data frame using a relay in a wireless communication system are provided. The relay link setup method of a source STA in a wireless communication system may include receiving capability information of at least one relay supporting station included in the wireless communication system from an access point (AP) or a personal basic service set (PBSS) central point (PCP), selecting one of the at least one relay supporting station as a relay station, using beam forming information among the source station, a destination station, and the at least one relay supporting station and the capability information, transferring a relay link setup request frame to the destination station, and receiving a relay link setup response frame that includes information on a relay link setup result from the destination station. The relay link setup request frame and the relay link setup response frame may pass through the relay station.

A diversity transmitting/receiving apparatus and method is provided, which is implemented using space-time trellis codes (STTC) constructed from a Pseudo Noise (PN) sequence set in a Direct Sequence (DS) CDMA system. The transmitter comprises a PN sequence generator, a space-time encoder, first and second modulators, and first and second multiple transmit antennas. The space-time encoder selects two of the multiple PN sequences to construct STTC, and space-time encodes data from a data source according to the STTC to output an Wary data symbol. The two modulators modulate the space-time encoded data according to the STTC. The two multiple transmit antennas wirelessly transmit outputs of the two modulators, respectively. By applying a method using space-time coding in a DS CDMA system including multiple transmit antennas, it is possible to achieve both diversity and additional coding gain and also to reduce multiple user interference by increasing the PN sequence length.
