Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a data switching device at a comparatively low hardware cost, to provide high performance and reliability and to efficiently process line mode service and frame mode service. SOLUTION: Bufferless line switches 210a, 210b are used in parallel as a switch part 200. An input part 100 is provided with a direct path 110 for line mode service, double input buffers 120a, 120b for storing frame mode frames and an input selector 130 for selecting the switches 210a, 210b. An output part 300 is provided with a path 320 for line mode service, output buffers 330a, 330b for storing frame mode frames and an output selector 310 for selecting the switches 210a, 210b.
