Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide equipment and its method for large capacity connectionless communication appliable to all the public and private networks. CONSTITUTION: This equipment is provided with a lot of terminal means 30 and 40 for performing the transformation and inverse transformation of connectionless frame transmitted from the network to a cell, requesting the setting of virtual connection when the frame is generated and outputting the cell while using the value of VCI showing the set connection when the connection is set and a lot of connectionless data service means 10 for setting the virtual connection according to the setting request of virtual connection from the terminal means, transmitting the value of set VCI through the terminal means and exchanging the cells transmitted from the terminal means.

Abstract: The system (12) has a selective multiple transmission function. A cell sub-division device (33) separates and provides a data cell, an operation and management cell (OAM) and a control cell for analysis of applied cells. An OAM processor (35) performs processing of the OAM coming from the cell sub-division device and a connection control device (36) executes a connection command which conforms to the control cell provided by the cell sub-division device. An address header converter (32) is provided to produce a header value from the data cell coming from the cell sub-division device. This is achieved by conversion of this value into a virtual output connection identifier (VPI), a virtual channel identifier (VCI), a multiplex identifier (MID) and a multi-transmission indication value conforming to a destination address. A cell duplicator (37) receives and reproduces a multi-transmission cell having a group address value.

Abstract: A method for protection switching in an Ethernet ring network is provided to solve the problems about ineffective protection switching and settle a transition phenomenon that the quantity of traffic is overshot after the protection switching. A first node, which senses a failure of a link, generates a protection switching frame including an address list of a transfer table corresponding to a port connected to the failed link. Thereafter, the first node transmits the protection switching frame to a port in an opposite direction of the failed link. A second node, which receives the protection switching frame, deletes an address thereof from the address list included in the protection switching frame. Thereafter, the second node corrects a port number of an address, which is included in the address list of the protection switching frame, from addresses of the transfer table corresponding to the port receiving the protection switching frame, or deletes the port number.
