Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the collision of cells to be outputted to the same channel in a high-speed network structure. SOLUTION: This optical buffer is provided with an AWG demultiplexer 11 for demultiplexing an inputted signal's wavelength, tera-Hertz optical asymmetric demultiplexing means(TOAD) 12 equipped with a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) for detecting a cell pointer at high speed, circulation means 13 for circulating data detected from this TOAD at high speed, switch means 14 for outputting data inputted from the circulation means 13 while determining delay corresponding to whether the cell pointer is detected from the TOAD at high speed or not, and photocoupler 16 for coupling data outputted by this switch means and data extracted by the TOAD and outputting them.
