Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:The benzodioxole derivative of formula I (A is single bond, lower alkylene or NH) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:4-(2-Imidazolinyl)-1,3-benzodioxole. USE:Medicine for circulatory system exhibiting hypertensive effect, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with ethylenediamine. The compound of formula II wherein A is single bond or lower alkylene can be produced by converting the carboxylic acid of formula III (A' is single bond or lower alkylene) to acid chloride, reacting with ammonia and reacting the resultant acid amide with P2S5 in xylene. Another compound of formula III wherein A' is single bond via a t-butyloxycarbonylamino compound, an amino compound and an N- benzoylthiourea compound.
