Abstract:
A method of improving the efficiency of a diesel engine provided with a source of diesel fuel includes the steps of: a) adding to the diesel fuel a reverse-micellar composition having an aqueous first disperse phase that includes a free radical initiator and a first continuous phase that includes a first hydrocarbon liquid, a first surfactant, and optionally a co-surfactant, thereby producing a modified diesel fuel, and b) operating the engine, thereby combusting the modified diesel fuel. The efficiency of a diesel engine provided with a source of diesel fuel and a source of lubricating oil can also be improved by modifying the lubricating oil by the addition of a stabilized nanoparticulate composition of cerium dioxide. The efficiency of a diesel engine can also be improved by adding to the diesel fuel a reverse-micellar composition that includes an aqueous disperse phase containing boric acid or a borate salt.
Abstract:
A method, system and applicator for the solvent-less delivery of a bio-active material to a receiver. The applicator includes a discharge device, a reservoir which holds a bioactive material, and a solvent at a supercritical fluid state for delivering the bioactive material through the discharge device to the receiver. A spacer may be positioned between the discharge device and the receiver. The receiver may have a plurality of different bio-active material to be applied to a subject, each located at a different location on the receiver.
Abstract:
A process for the deposition of a thin film of a desired material on a surface comprising: (i) providing a continuous stream of amorphous solid particles of desired material suspended in at least one carrier gas, the solid particles having a volume-weighted mean particle diameter of less than 500 nm, at an average stream temperature below the glass transition temperature of the solid particles of desired material, (ii) passing the stream provided in (i) into a heating zone, and heating the stream in the heating zone to elevate the average stream temperature to above the glass transition temperature of the solid particles of desired material, wherein no substantial chemical transformation of the desired material occurs due to heating of the desired material, (iii) exhausting the heated stream from the heating zone through at least one distributing passage, at a rate substantially equal to its rate of addition to the heating zone in step (ii), wherein the carrier gas does not undergo a thermodynamic phase change upon passage through heating zone and distribution passage, and (iv) exposing a receiver surface that is at a temperature below the temperature of the heated stream to the exhausted flow of the heated stream, and depositing particles of the desired material to form a thin uniform layer of the desired material on the receiver surface.
Abstract:
A system and method for creating virtual “flat” customer records derived from database customer data that may be used as standardized input for analytical models. A Customer Analytic Record (“CAR”) application may be created as a database object to extract, transform, and format all of the customer data needed for customer segmentation and predictive modeling. The CAR may be a set of database “views” that are defined using virtual stored queries and enabled using capabilities of a data base management system and a structured query language. The CAR is preferably a virtual “flat” record of the customer data needed for customer analytics. The customer data may be extracted by running one or more SQL queries against the database view(s). The CAR application may dynamically calculate additional variables using predetermined transformations, including custom transformations of an underlying behavior. If additional variables are created, the CAR may be modified to include the additional variables. The CAR is preferably a dynamic view of the customer record that changes whenever any update is made to the database. The definition of the CAR provides documentation of each data element available for use in models and analytics.

Abstract:
There is an air freshener unit and a combined container and air freshener unit. The air freshener unit is mounted onto the upper portion of the container and is comprised of a first section and a second section. In one embodiment the first section is a holder for a fragrance material and the second section is a cover for the first section. The second section in a first position covers and substantially seals the first section and in a second position allows air to pass through a space between the first section and the second section and deliver the fragrance material to the atmosphere exterior to the air freshener unit. In a second embodiment both the first section and the second section contain fragrance material. In the first embodiment structure the first section is comprised of a plurality of recesses which hold the fragrance material and the second section is of a conforming shape to cover and substantially seal the plurality of recesses in a first position and in a second position allows air to pass between the first section and the second section to deliver the fragrance to the exterior of the air freshener unit. In a second embodiment structure both the first section and the second section are comprised of a plurality of recesses and deliver the fragrance material in the same manner. The fragrance material is held in the recesses and is in a solid or gel form.
Abstract:
Ring holder, usable with a conventional ring display, includes a body defining an upper face which in turn defines a notch or recess adapted to receive a portion of the ring. The notch has opposed flanks for engaging the outer surface of the ring at spaced locations, and a peg projecting above the support surface engages an inner surface of the ring, thus providing a stable support.
