Abstract: A damper assembly for a hinge comprises a damping device 10 with a piston arranged to be movable within a cylinder 15 containing damping fluid, a retainer 11, 12 for mounting the device and a mechanism 18, 19 for converting rotational movement of the hinge into relative movement of the piston and the cylinder. The piston may be mounted on a piston rod 14 that has a free end extending out of the cylinder. The movement converting mechanism may be arranged to act on the cylinder at a position substantially outside the range of movement of the piston on its working stroke. The movement converting mechanism may include a camming surface on the cylinder. The damper may further comprise a resiliently deformable element 20 interposed in the line of the force transmitted to the damping device, and may form part of the movement converting mechanism.

Abstract: A damper assembly for a toggle-type hinge, comprising a holder 23 receiving linear damping device 17 and to be mounted in use onto the cup flange of the hinge with the axis of the damping device parallel to the rotational axis of the hinge movement, and an actuator 24 to convert rotational movement of the hinge into linear movement of the damping device over at least part of hinge travel. In one aspect the actuator is rotatably mounted in the holder in line with the axis of the damping device, in a further aspect the actuator includes an engagement means to one side of the hinge arm. The holder or actuator may include a helical cam groove 29 and the other of the holder or actuator may include a helical cam follower rib (30, fig.4), the cam follower may comprise pin and the cam groove may have a variable pitch. The actuator preferably has protruding member 28 for engagement with a striking plate (32, fig.1) of the hinge arm. The damper assembly may include two dampers coaxially aligned, one to each side of the hinge arias with separate actuators; the second damper may have different damping characteristics to the first damping device and may come into action at a different stage during closing of the hinge.

Abstract: A damper assembly comprising a cylinder 10 having a piston assembly 14 mounted for reciprocal movement therein and which divides the cylinder into separate chambers with a restricted flow path therebetween for passage of damping fluid, wherein the restricted flow path is defined between elements whose shape and/or relative position is designed to vary with temperature. One of the elements may be an elongate pin 30, which may be located in a chamber 17 having a cross-sectional area which varies with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder, for example forming a conical shape or a cylindrical shape with a shoulder. The pin may be conical in shape or have an enlarged head. Preferably the pin is arranged to move axially within the chamber. The assembly may be used for cushioning movement of furniture parts such as doors or drawers and compensates for temperature changes causing a change in the viscosity of the damping fluid.

Abstract: A hinge assembly comprising a toggle type hinge 10 with a linear damping device 13 arranged with its longitudinal axis parallel to the axis of movement of the hinge. First and second actuating devices 19, 30 operate the damping device, preferably independently, acting in opposite directions and at different rates, ranges of movement of the hinge and stages of hinge movement. The two striker plates (20 32 Fig 1) and arm assembly (55 Fig 4) activate the first and second actuating devices in response to movement of the hinge. The damper 13 may be mounted by a cylinder 15 on a guide plate 16, the cylinder 15 is able to rotate about its longitudinal axis A and in an axial direction B. The actuating devices may be wings 19 30 extending out from cylinders 15 31 mounted in a radiused groove 17 on a guide plate 16. Each wing engages with a corresponding striker plate (20 32) via a camming action which causes the cylinder to rotate and the piston rod 14 of the damper to be depressed. The hinge is designed for use on a cupboard to give a controlled shutting of the cupboard door.

Sestav blažilnika zagotavlja dušilno odpornost zapirajočemu gibanju šarnirja preko njegove končne faze. Sestav blažilnika obsega blažilnik (17) in prožilo (24), oba sta montirana v vrsto v držalu (23). Udarna plošča (32) na eni strani ročice (13) šarnirja je razporejena, da ubira s krilcem (28) na prožilu (24), pri čemer povzroči da prožilo rotira okoli svoje vzdolžne osi (25). Par rebro (29) / utor (30) odmikala med držalom (23) in prožilom (24) povzroči, da se prožilo premakne vzdolž svoje osi (25), ko rotira. Osno gibanje prožila (24) povzroči stisnjenje blažilnika (17).
