    Abstract: Printer (1) is provided with a mode to edit and print forms without reference to or interruption of a host computer and with immediate printing of one or more of the forms. Page data for the form is preferably stored in flash memory (21) in a high level printer language. Preferably, at initiation of the forms mode at least the first listed document is immediately prepared by the control data processor (17) of the printer in bit mapped form for printing. Documents can be listed on the control panel by name for ready selection for printing.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for executing commands on a printer coupled to a computer receives at least one input is from a user via a user interface on the printer. The input is translated into a corresponding computer command. The computer command is transmitted to the computer via a bidirectional computer interface bus so as to cause the computer to execute a predetermined action corresponding to the computer command. A printer for use with a computer acording to the method of the invention inlcudes a printer mechanism and a printer control circuit operatively coupled to the printer mechanism so as to control the printer mechanism. A bidirectional computer interface bus, that is operatively coupled to the printer control circuit, receives data from the computer and selectively transmits data to the computer. A user interface is operatively coupled to the bidirectional computer interface bus. The user interface includes at least one user input that, when asserted, causes a computer command to be placed on the bidirectional computer interface bus so as to cause the computer to execute a predetermined action corresponding to the computer command.

    Abstract: An inkjet printhead having a plurality of ink discharge nozzles (12) that are served by respective ink supply conduits formed within a composite substrate includes ink discharge heaters (42) respective to each of the nozzles, one or more substrate heaters (38) for preheating an ink flow within the supply conduits and a plurality of resistors (52) for monitoring the printhead quality during manufacture. The ink discharge heaters are in circuit with a first energy source connection and a common ground connection.
