    Abstract: Provided are a video display device and a method of operating the same. The method includes: executing an enhanced service playing application not dependent on any single channel; obtaining an uncompressed audio video (AV) content; playing the uncompressed AV content through the display unit; attempting to obtain contents information on the uncompressed AV content on the basis of a part of the uncompressed AV content; transmitting an enhanced service request message to an enhanced service providing server not dependent on any single channel by the enhanced service; receiving an enhanced service from the enhanced service providing server; and playing the enhanced service through the display unit by the enhanced service playing application.

    Abstract: The disclosed method for processing a broadcast signal for 3D (3-Dimensional) broadcast service comprises encoding 2D (2-Dimentional) video stream including a 2D video frame, encoding depth information including depth of a 3D image relative to a plane of a display, encoding signaling information for signaling the encoded 2D video stream and the depth information, wherein the signaling information includes a 3D service location descriptor including codec type information specifying encoding type of the encoded depth information, generating the broadcast signal including the encoded 2D video stream, depth information and signaling information, and transmitting the generated broadcast signal.

    Abstract: The disclosed method for processing a digital broadcast signal for a 3-dimentional, 3D, service comprises encoding video data for the 3D service into a video stream, the video data comprising a left picture and a right picture for a 3D image, generating the broadcast signal having the video data and service information for the 3D service, the service information including video depth range descriptor indicating a minimum disparity and a maximum disparity that occur during a given time window of the video stream, wherein the minimum disparity and the maximum disparity are a minimum difference and a maximum difference between horizontal positions of a pixel representing a same point in space in the left and right views of 3-dimentional image, respectively, and transmitting the digital broadcast signal for the 3D service.

    Abstract: A broadcast receiver and a 3D video data processing method thereof are disclosed herein. a 3D video data processing method of a broadcast receiver according to an embodiment of the present invention includes receiving, by a receiving unit, a broadcast signal including 3D video data and 3D complementary video information, wherein the 3D video data include half-resolution base video data and complementary video data for configuring a full-resolution image; parsing, by 3D video information processing unit, a 3D complementary video information; decoding, by a base video decoder, the half-resolution base video data; decoding, by a complementary video decoder, the complementary video data for configuring a full-resolution image; acquiring and storing by a Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) processor 3D complementary video information through 3D complementary video descriptor in Event Information Table (EIT); and combining and formatting, by an output formatter, the base video data and the complementary video data using the 3D complementary video information, thereby outputting a full-resolution 3D image.
