Abstract: A liquid crystal panel is provided to prevent color bleeding at a peripheral area of the liquid crystal panel and maintain uniform brightness at an active region by placing a ball spacer at the active are and a column spacer at the edge region. Substrates(20,22) face each other with a liquid crystal material therebetween. A plurality of ball spacers(12) are distributed in an area used for display of an image and maintain an interval between the substrates. Column spacers(14) are distributed in a peripheral region of the image display region, and maintain an interval between the substrates. The ball spacers are formed of a material with a similar thermal expansion coefficient to the liquid crystal material.
