A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) module using the same are provided to apply all light emitted from a fluorescent lamp to a light guide plate by mounting the fluorescent lamp within the light guide plate and configuring both four edges of the light guide plate with parabolic mirrors, thereby preventing light loss caused by a lamp guide and reducing costs. A backlight unit comprises a reflecting plate, a light guide plate(123) and plural optical sheets. The light guide plate is mounted on an upper part of the reflecting plate. Within the light guide plate, a fluorescent lamp(129) is mounted. The plural optical sheets are mounted on the light guide plate. Both four edges of the light guide plate are configured with parabolic mirrors. One side of a light guide plate length direction is configured with a first parabolic mirror(133a), and the other side of the light guide plate length direction facing the first parabolic mirror is configured with a second parabolic mirror(133b).

A liquid crystal panel is provided to prevent color bleeding at a peripheral area of the liquid crystal panel and maintain uniform brightness at an active region by placing a ball spacer at the active are and a column spacer at the edge region. Substrates(20,22) face each other with a liquid crystal material therebetween. A plurality of ball spacers(12) are distributed in an area used for display of an image and maintain an interval between the substrates. Column spacers(14) are distributed in a peripheral region of the image display region, and maintain an interval between the substrates. The ball spacers are formed of a material with a similar thermal expansion coefficient to the liquid crystal material.

A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to maximize light reflection efficiency of a reflecting plate and prevent faults such as luminance non-uniform and bright line by uniformly diffusing light by the reflecting plate. A backlight unit(110) comprises a lamp(112), a reflecting plate(114) and an optical member(122). The reflecting plate upwardly reflects and diffuses light downwardly emitted from the lamp, and emits heat emitted from the lamp to the outside. The optical member improves luminance of light upwardly emitted from the lamp and the light upwardly reflected and diffused by the reflecting plate.

The present invention relates to a liquid crystal device to which a line on glass structure and a cascade structure are both applied and a manufacturing method thereof. The liquid crystal device includes: a liquid crystal panel (200) including a plurality of pixels defined by gate lines and data lines that cross each other, wherein a first group of signal lines is formed on the liquid crystal panel in an on-glass-configuration; a plurality of tape carrier packages (220, 210) mounted with source drivers that provide data signals through the data lines to the liquid crystal panel and mounted on the liquid crystal panel in a cascade structure, wherein a second group of signal lines connected to the first group of signal lines is formed thereon; and a printed circuit board (230) combined directly with only one of the plurality of tape cater packages so as to supply a plurality of driving signals and control signals to the liquid crystal panel.
