A prism sheet, a back light unit and a liquid crystal display device using the prism sheet are provided to increase a brightness of the LCD device by forming a cross-section of the prism in a scalene triangle with an acute angle. A prism sheet includes a base film(142) and plural prism threads(144). The prism threads are formed on an upper surface of the base film. The prism threads have acute inner angles. Each of the prism threads includes first and second slant surfaces and an apex. The first slant surface is slanted from the base film by a first angle. The second slant surface is slanted from the base film by a second angle. The apex is formed by the first and second slant surfaces.
Abstract:
An LCD is provided to prevent bright lines from being generated on an LCD panel by forming prism patterns having different starting points on a rear face of a light guiding plate. An LCD comprises an LCD panel, a light source for supplying light to the LCD panel, and a light guiding plate(110). The light guiding plate includes an incident face(101) for receiving the light, an output face for outputting the light to the LCD panel, and a semi-incident face(104) facing the incident face. Prism patterns(107) having different lengths are formed on a rear face of the light guiding plate. The prism patterns having different starting points at a region corresponding to the incident face of the light guiding plate.
Abstract:
A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to maximize light reflection efficiency of a reflecting plate and prevent faults such as luminance non-uniform and bright line by uniformly diffusing light by the reflecting plate. A backlight unit(110) comprises a lamp(112), a reflecting plate(114) and an optical member(122). The reflecting plate upwardly reflects and diffuses light downwardly emitted from the lamp, and emits heat emitted from the lamp to the outside. The optical member improves luminance of light upwardly emitted from the lamp and the light upwardly reflected and diffused by the reflecting plate.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prism sheet capable of improving light efficiency and viewing angle characteristics thereof, and to provide a backlight unit using the prism sheet. SOLUTION: The prism sheet comprises: a condensing film which transmits an incident light; a plurality of prism crests formed so as to have apexes on the condensing film; and a plurality of reflection patterns formed on the condensing film such that each reflection pattern faces a boundary of adjacent prism crests to reflect the incident light.
