Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a restart time for transmission of forward link data by allowing a main base station to use a fundamental channel or a sub channel and deciding whether or not the forward link data are to be sent via an air interface. SOLUTION: When receiving forward link user data from a sub channel(SCH) distribution function, a main leg assigns a sub channel resource to the data, communicates an air interface channel parameter at an assigned SCH fast data rate to a mobile station 412 by using an F-fundamental channel(FCH) and transmits the data to the mobile station by using the F-SCH. However, when many data are not present, other system is employed, a few F-SCH resources are not assigned, and a forward FCH(F-FCH) air interface resource having already been assigned is used to process a data message. The main base station uses the fundamental channel or the sub channel to decide whether or not the forward link data are sent via an air interface.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the compatibility and the capability of the network by taking the opportunity of software delivery processing by configuring the method such that manybase stations taking part in speeches conduct communication to control the performance and the speech quality by using the opportunity of software delivery processing so as to match the setting of a frame error rate(FER) of the network. SOLUTION: An FER control system 206 receives FER setting data from interconnection processors 214, 224 for base stations. During the software delivery processing, a base station sends a delivery request to a mobile exchange center 102 so that the mobile exchange center 102 can assign a resource to other base station. The FER control system 206 decides the setting of an FER that is most limitless to a speech. The FER control system 206 matches FER requests potentially not compatible for a prescribed speech for the base stations in the delivery state. The FER setting is delivered to all base stations taking part in the speeches as the FER setting applicable to the speeches.

Abstract: In a wireless communications system having a centralized interworking function(IWF) and geographically distributed base stations, a packet-oriented frame selection/distribution (FSD) function forwards forward-link user data intended for a particular mobile unit directly to a primary base station, which determines whether to transmit the forward user data to the mobile unit using a fundamental channel or a supplemental channel. If the data is to be transmitted using a fundamental channel, when the base station is operating in soft handoff, the forward user data is transmitted from the primary base station back to a circuit-oriented FSD function for forwarding to all of the base stations currently participating in the soft handoff, so that all of the base stations can transmit the forward-link user data to the mobile unit at the same time. If the data is to be transmitted using a supplemental channel, then the primary base station is able to assign a supplemental channel and transmit the forward user data to the mobile unit using the supplemental channel in simplex mode, independent of whether or not the mobile unit is otherwise operating in soft handoff. In this way, forward-link data transmissions can be performed without first having to coordinate either the timing or the data rate with any other base stations or with the FSD function. As such, the reactivation time needed to resume active forward-link data transmissions using a supplemental channel from the control hold state is less than the corresponding reactivation time under the prior art, which does require coordination of timing and data rate between all base stations in soft handoff.
