Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber improved in the adhesive force between the glass and a photocurable coating film. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a photocurable or electron beam- curable composition and a setting agent, being useful for producing coated optical fibers; wherein the setting agent bears an alkoxysilane functional group bound via the long main chain to the reactive group copolymerizable with the photocurable or electron beam-curable composition; the alkoxy-substituted organosilane group-contg. compound is conjugatedly bound to a relatively long molecule having (meth)acrylate functional group; as part of the photocurable coating material, the long chain raises the adhesive force of the coating material to a glass substrate through conjugatedly binding a high-molecular network texture to the glass substrate.
