Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a scheduling method for packet transmission on shared downlink channels. SOLUTION: This scheduling method has a step for receiving quality of service requirements of each data flow including a protocol data unit(PDU), a step for deciding the priority order of a PDU to be subjected to a service to transmit data on a communication channel, and a step for performing a PDU service on the basis of allocated radio resource constraints by dynamically creating transport block sets(TBS) to be transmitted to a physical layer(PHY- layer) with regard to the defined priority order.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an efficient power controllable communication system by making each user terminal extract data from its allocated time slot in those frames indicating that a slot includes data in accordance with setup information and a user packet flag. SOLUTION: A dedicated downlink channel time frame comprises, for instance, sixteen time slots. Downlink data is transmitted through a data channel in a repetition time frame and downlink setup information is transmitted through a control channel because a user terminal shows from which time slot data should be extracted. Each frame of a data channel includes a user packet flag that indicates whether or not each time slot in a frame includes data. Each user terminal extracts data from its allocated time slot in those frames in accordance with setup information and a user packet flag.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a connection method for mobile unit that efficiently utilizes radio resources. SOLUTION: In the UMTS(Universal Mobile Telephone System), semi-static uplink and downlink connection parameters relating to the frequently-used services of voice, fax, and web browsing are intermittently broadcast to mobile user equipment (20) which stores the parameters. When a mobile station requests (30) one of those services, the relevant dynamic parameters are sent over the radio interface and the mobile station is asked whether it has in its store the relevant parameters for the requested service, if so, the call is set up; if not, the semi-static parameters relevant to the requested service are sent to the user equipment.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize addition of an overhead and to minimize the need to change the structure of a physical layer by multiplexing plural packet data users to one downlink shared channel. SOLUTION: A multiplexer 26 is provided in an MAC sublayer 4a and inputs respective transport blocks from respective user data streams on signal lines 12a, 12b, and 12c. The multiplexer 26 multiplexes the transport blocks which are received from the all user data streams in a corresponding time frame into one signal on a signal line 28. Thus, a single piece of signal data, including the transport blocks for all the user in a certain time frame, is inputted to an encoding block 14d, a rate matching block 16d and an interleaving block 18d, and these process the multiplexed transport blocks.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data packet for a mobile telecommunication system. SOLUTION: The data packet, for instance, a length index field 16 of variable grain is prepared in the protocol data unit(PDU) of a universal mobile telecommunication system(UMTS), on the basis of a payload length to be transmitted. An additional field 14 of a single bit length is provided to show the grain of the length index field. Thus, the resolution of a header can be increased, while maintaining the overhead of extra field bits low. This method consists of a process (a) in which a data length is evaluated and a unit suitable to represent the length is selected from among a plurality of possible unit (32 and 34), a process (b) in which a grain field is set so as to define the suitable unit selected to show the data length (36 and 40), and a process (c) in which the length index field is set so as to show the data length (38 and 42).

At least one data packet in each frame has transmission power control information of at least another user in this communication system. This system can be provided with a null user packet. This differs from the prescribed packet provided with transmission power control information of at least one user in this communication system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method by which end user devices compete with each other in access to a common resource of a communication channel, by informing a controller of a communication system of a resource requested by an end user device to send another information packet in a sequence. SOLUTION: End user devices (mobile stations) 1-n use a random access channel(RACH) for sending a request to a system controller 21, so as to compete with each other in transmission permission of a data packet. A base station 20 uses a dynamic resource assignment table(DRA) 22 to decide whether or not a sufficiently idle resource is in existence in a network and returns permission of transmission of a data packet through the use of a feedback channel, when in existence. Thus, the method to request a resource in the communication system by the end user devices (mobile stations) 1-n is obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a cellular mobile radiotelephone network characterized by including a step to perform a request to service from a mobile set, and a step to demodulate the burst of a message and then to passe the demodulated data to a radiotelephone network controller(RNC). SOLUTION: When the mobile set performs a handover within a cellular system, first, the mobile set searches a best cell to which it can be connected, next tries to transmit a message to the found best cell. In a CDMA cellular system, a likelihood to be received successfully by a cell having the random access channel(RACH) message of the mobile set is largely dependent on sending power. The cellular mobile radiotelephone network is disclosed. As a characteristic, the mobile set requests service by a format related to a first cell in which the mobile set is located by using data modulated on one common RACH. A base station in a cell adjacent to the first cell is composed so that the burst of the RACH message having the format related to the first cell is demodulated and the demodulated data are passed to the RNC. Thereby, mean power required for successfully transmitting the RACH message can be reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible and efficient asymmetrical multiplex access protocol by assigning a slot to incoming link communication or outgoing link communication so as to optimize a transmission efficiency of a channel. SOLUTION: End user devices (mobile stations) 1-6 use one optional communication protocol among plural communication protocols for traversing an aerial interface 12 via antennas 10, 11 and to hold communication with a closest bas station 13. The base station 13 uses is own broadcast control channel(BCCH) to broadcast information to all the mobile stations 1-6 within a range at all times. The base station 13 and the mobile stations 1-6 use a traffic channel(TCH) to hold communication and the base station 13 sends a feedback signal by the use of an ancillary control channel(ACCH) simultaneously. Data sent through a traffic channel(TCH) are divided into packets and are sent with proper control bits by the use of a proper slot.
