    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal capable of voice-communicating with a base station in a packet radio service. SOLUTION: The mobile terminal 2 is formed of; a processor 12 which fixes one channel among plural channels for voice communication between the terminal 2 and the base station 22, digitally encodes voice to generate voice information, composes voice information in the form of a voice packet and generates the assigning request of a channel for transmitting the voice packet; a transmitter 8 assigning this channel assigning request and the voice packet to the base station 22 in a network; and a receiver 10 assigned from the base station to receive ID of a channel for transmission of the terminal 2. At the time of receiving channel assignment, the processor 12 checks whether the packet is transmitted by the channel or not.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable information signalling in a transmission system by inserting signaling information associated with an individual frame into the individual frame, dividing signaling information and inserting it to a different frame. SOLUTION: User data, namely, a call uses one of modes which can be used for encoding the call in a step 101 and it is made into a source code in accordance with a selected encoding mode. Call encoding data from the step 101 are channel-encoded with at least one added bit obtained from a multi-frame signaling step 102 in a channel encoding step 104 in accordance with the selected encoding mode, and the call and multi-frame signaling bit 106 are formed. An actual encoding mode bit is generated in an actual mode signaling step 100 in accordance with the encoding mode selected for the data frame against the respective data frames.

    Abstract: A method is provided of transferring a call connection with a mobile terminal from a first network to a second network. The first network is capable of handling both circuit-switched and packet-switched modes of connection. The second network is capable of handling one of the packet-switched or circuit-switched modes of connection but not both. The terminal is capable of both packet-switched and circuit-switched call modes of connection. The method comprises the first network: identifying the location of the mobile terminal with respect to at least one of the networks, identifying the mobile terminal as being in a mode of connection not usable in the second network, instructing the mobile terminal to transfer the call connection to the other mode of connection, and transferring the call connection to the second network.

    Abstract: A communication system includes a decentralized, flat architecture where a plurality of base nodes each include controller capabilities so that a centralized base node such as a radio network controller is not required. At least one of the base nodes acts as an anchor node. The anchor node associates a time stamp with at least one packet and provides that to the plurality of base nodes. In one example, a multicast approach is used by a router device for distributing the packet and the associated time stamp to the plurality of base nodes. Each base node controls a timing of a transmission of the at least one packet over a wireless interface responsive to the associated time stamp.
