Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-carrier/multi-sector channel pooling configuration, by which the system flexibility and reliability can be enhanced. SOLUTION: Each of base stations in a wireless communication system has a plurality of channel unit boards (200), including a plurality of channel elements (202) to serve a processing operation to a signal assigned to a plurality of carriers of the system. A prescribed channel unit board includes a multiplexer (204), that activates a multi-carrier/multi-sector channel pooling by assigning a prescribed channel element of the board to any of a plurality of carriers of the system. For example, the multiplexer in the prescribed channel board can be operated to connect the channel element of the board to an I/Q signal bus related to a different system carrier. Then the I/Q signal bus, with respect to each of the carriers, is coupled with a corresponding signal from the other board on the prescribed board.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reconstructable base station capable of supporting many communication references in a CDMA radio system. SOLUTION: This reconstructable base station suitable to support many radio communication system references includes the set of a channel unit board, the set of a radio board and a reconstructable bus that mutually connects the channel unit board and the radio board. The base station is constructed so as to support a specific radio system reference such as IS-95 CDMA. The base station can reconstruct an orthogonal transmission diversity(OTD) so as to support other CDMA references such as an IS-95C, a multi-carrier(MC) cdma 2000 or a universal mobile telecommunication system(UMTS). The allocation of a signal line can dynamically be carried out by establishing a fixed connection among a bus signal line and the channel unit and the port of the radio board.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single base station, that supports non-diversity transmission of a 1st-type digital signal and diversity transmission of a 2nd-type digital signal. SOLUTION: The base station 8 includes a primary channel board 12, that modulates and codes a digital signal of the 1st type and a secondary channel board 14, that modulates and codes a digital signal of the 2nd type. A 1st group transmission wireless module 18 receives the digital signal of the 1st type and the digital signal of the 2nd type, and provides a synthesized electromagnetic output signal. Each transmission wireless module is related to each different sector. The transmission wireless module 18 of the 2nd group receives the digital signal of the 2nd type from the secondary channel board 14 and provides a different electromagnetic output signal, to supplement the composited electromagnetic output signal.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently use the band width of a signal channel by examining some part of data received over at least a first communication channel. SOLUTION: When a time slot inverter(TSI) 54 receives a display, TSI 54 obtains information that the next set of bits is transmitted over some specific communication channel at the starting point of a frame. A receiver/transceiver (USART) 56 examines the set (or the part) of down link coding system channel bits with respect to the existence of a coding-system message. When USART 56 detects a flag character, USART 56 throws away the set of the down link coding system channel bits to prevent the set of the bits from passing through a microprocessor 58. Then, the microprocessor 58 examines an identifying name related to a ciphering system message stored in a memory for deciding whether the coding system message is directed to a base station or not.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize circuit components between both low-speed high-speed systems by generating two component CDMA data signals or more with respect to each user data signal received by a high-speed data processor and generating a low-speed CDMA channel signal, with respect to at least one user data signal received by a 1ow-speed CDMA processor. SOLUTION: A transmission section of a base station includes two separate RF processing parts. For example, the transmitter includes a low-speed digital signal processing block 602 and a CDMA radio circuit 604 for, e.g. an IS-95 signal processing. The system includes also a narrow band RF amplifier 606 and a transmission filter XMT 608 in a 1st path, and also a high speed broadband CDMA digital signal processing block 612 that processes a signal in compliance with the broadband CDMA standard, a broadband CDMA radio circuit 614, an RF amplifier 616 and a transmission filter XMT 618 in a 2nd path. So long as the processing in both the paths is conducted separately, a signal in compliance with both the standards is outputted to an antenna 610.

Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and a method for sharing a communicati on channel among two or more base stations connected to a base station controller via a common transmission line in a channelized format. The present invention allows each of the base stations t o receive data transmitted over a shared communication channel from the base station controller, to determin e whether the data transmitted from the base station controller is intended for that base station, and to i nsert its data into the communication channel without interfering with data transmitted by other bas e stations over the communication channel. In one embodiment, each of the base stations is confi gured to bridge onto the transmission facility such that messages being transmitted over a signaling channel may be received by all of the base stations. The signaling messages has associated identifiers for specifying particular base stations to which the messages are intended. In another embo diment, each of the base stations can insert its signaling message into the data stream over the signaling channel without interfering with signaling messages already in the data stream.
