Abstract: In a 3GPP standards Release 6 UMTS system, in order to avoid searching at NodeB for a maximum E-DPCCH-associated metric at discrete possible valid index values, or over disjoint possible valid index regions, at the UE the three different sources of information, the fixed number bits that comprise the RSN, TFI and the H-bit components of the E-DPCCH bit field, are mapped so that the decimal equivalents of the possible E-DPCCH indices lie within a continuous range of values.

Abstract: Método en un transmisor en un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbricas que tiene un canal de control que puede operarse para comunicar un indicador happy, H, de longitud fija, un número de secuencia de retransmisión, RSN, de longitud fija, y un indicador de formatos de transporte, TFI, de longitud fija, siendo el método para combinar el indicador H, el RSN y el TFI en una palabra de código de múltiples bits de longitud fija combinada para su transmisión en una trama en el canal de control, caracterizado el método por: mapear o correlacionar el número fijo de bits del indicador happy, el número fijo de bits del RSN, y el número fijo de bits del TFI en una palabra de código de múltiples bits de longitud fija combinada, de manera que los equivalentes decimales de las palabras de código combinadas formadas a partir de todas las combinaciones permitidas del indicador happy, el RSN y TFI se sitúan dentro de un intervalo continuo de valores, siendo el número de combinaciones permitidas del indicador happy, el RSN y el TFI menor que el número máximo de valores diferentes en decimal que es posible que tenga la palabra de código de múltiples bits de longitud fija combinada.
