Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber/connector having an auxiliary spring. SOLUTION: An optical fiber/connector/assembly has an inner room, which has a cable receiving tip part and a reinserting interface, and a connector 14 which forms a fiber/holder. A latch/arm has a latching means which engages with the shoulder of an adapter and cam/robes 26 on the latch/arm engage with the tilted surfaces of the adapter and provide the bias force to move the connector 14 to the tip part of the interface. A bias force reinforcing member is included to guarantee a reliable connection over a long period. The member is an elastic member having the elastic force to increase the bias force generated by the cam/robes 26.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector which is easily inserted to and removed from a relevant receptacle without requiring tools neither requiring a grasp of the opposite side, where connection parts are congested, to secure the positive optical contact to a terminal of a counter connector or device. SOLUTION: The main body of an optical connector 41 consists of a means which has an interface end part and a fiber entrance end and fixes a jacketed fiber to the main body, a latch arm 48 which has a near end attached to the main body and free far end, and at least one cam lobe 5 arrange on this arm 48, and an assembly consists of an adapter member 38 which receives the connector, and this member consists of a cavity 39 extended in the axial direction and the main body which has an interface end part and a connector reception end part, and a cam means is provided which is placed in an adapter and is adapted to press the cam lobe as to apply a forward bias force to the connector in the adapter, and a forming means is provided which forms a shoulder for latch connection of the latch arm.

Abstract: An optical fiber connector assembly has a connector having a bore having a cable receiving end and a reentrant interface end forming a fiber holder. Jacketed plastic optical fiber is affixed within the bore and unjacketed fiber is contained in the fiber holder. A latching arm has latch means for engaging a shoulder in an adapter, and camming lobes on the latching arm engage sloping ramps in the adapter to impart a bias force to move the connector toward the interface end.

Abstract: An optical fiber connector is disclosed for terminating an optical cable which has a plastic core and a surrounding jacket. The connector includes a body member which has a central bore extending therethrough within which is a longitudinally extending internally threaded portion dimensioned to grip the plastic jacket when the cable is screwed into the body member. The bore has a tapered section extending from the threaded portion to a cable entrant end of the body to facilitate insertion of an optical cable into the body.
