    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting up an optical fiber connector including the optical fiber connector and a barrel assembly arranged within a housing. SOLUTION: A barrel assembly 31 is formed of a deformable material and includes a barrel main body and a barrel having a barrel extending part 24 which extends from the end of the barrel main body. A ferrule in the internal part of which a preliminarily polished fiber stub is arranged is supported by the end of the opposite side of the barrel main body. An insert is arranged within the barrel, and the insert is deformable and it is arranged and constituted so as to receive at least one fiber. The cap 20 of the extending part meshes with one part of the housing, and the barrel assembly 31 is attached to the inside of the housing. The housing includes at least one opening 14 arranged in the side part in order to access the barrel assembly 31.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector for optical cable. SOLUTION: An optical connector which terminates an optical cable 10 including a plastic optical fiber 11 enclosed by a protective jacket 12 includes a housing which has an external latch 201 which is to be fixed to an adapter. This latch 201 is constituted as a cantilever having its fixed end and is placed toward the front end of the housing. The connector includes a cable holding structure which is attached to the jacket of the optical cable so that the plastic optical fiber 11 may be connected to a related optical device without using a ferrule. One cable holding structure is made of a metal and includes a guide tube pressed or insert-molded to the rear end of a plastic housing 40.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber/connector having an auxiliary spring. SOLUTION: An optical fiber/connector/assembly has an inner room, which has a cable receiving tip part and a reinserting interface, and a connector 14 which forms a fiber/holder. A latch/arm has a latching means which engages with the shoulder of an adapter and cam/robes 26 on the latch/arm engage with the tilted surfaces of the adapter and provide the bias force to move the connector 14 to the tip part of the interface. A bias force reinforcing member is included to guarantee a reliable connection over a long period. The member is an elastic member having the elastic force to increase the bias force generated by the cam/robes 26.

SOLUTION: The main body of an optical connector 41 consists of a means which has an interface end part and a fiber entrance end and fixes a jacketed fiber to the main body, a latch arm 48 which has a near end attached to the main body and free far end, and at least one cam lobe 5 arrange on this arm 48, and an assembly consists of an adapter member 38 which receives the connector, and this member consists of a cavity 39 extended in the axial direction and the main body which has an interface end part and a connector reception end part, and a cam means is provided which is placed in an adapter and is adapted to press the cam lobe as to apply a forward bias force to the connector in the adapter, and a forming means is provided which forms a shoulder for latch connection of the latch arm.

    Abstract: An optical connector is disclosed for terminating an optical cable comprising a plastic optical fiber surrounded by a protective jacket. The connector includes a housing having an exterior latch that secures it to an adapter. The latch is constructed as a cantilever with its fixed end positioned towar d a front end of the housing. The connector further includes a cable-holding structure that attaches to the jacket of the optical cable in such a manner that the plastic optical fiber connects to an associated optical device without the use of a ferrule. One cable-holding structure includes a guide tube that is made from metal an d is pressed, or insert molded, into the back end of one plastic housing. A porti on of the guide tube protrudes from the back end of the housing and is crimped ont o the optical cable. Here, the optical cable is immovably attached to the housing. Another cable-holding structure includes an extender cap, a spring, and a guide tube having an enlarged diameter at one end. The spring surrounds the tube a nd presses against its enlarged end. The spring also presses against an interio r surface of the extender cap, which inserts into the back end of another plastic housing. Here, the optical cable is movably attached to the housing.
