Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve selectable reception sensitivity and transmitter output by providing a bidirectional active antenna repeater of an interior radio communication system, which distributes a signal received from an external signal source in a building and widens the use range of a cordless telephone used in an office. SOLUTION: The bidirectional activity antenna repeater of this indoor radio communication system is equipped with reception parts RX1 and RX2, transmission parts TX1 and TX2, a variable phase shifter 16, and 1st and 2nd antennas 12 and 14 at one of those parts. The variable phase shifter 16 makes a phase shift which is selectable between the 1st and 2nd antennas 12 and 14, when a signal sent to the 1st antenna 12 is sent to the 2nd antenna 14. Those antennas 12 and 14 are separated from each other by a half wavelength. In the building, the signal received from the external signal source is distributed to widen the use range of the cordless telephone 28 used in the office.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low cost substrate which has an advantage of single crystal Si and a resistivity higher than the single crystal Si and which can be used as a silicon substrate supporting an electronic circuit operating at a frequency higher than a radio frequency by a method, wherein a polycrystalline silicon substrate which has a resistivity higher than a specific value is employed. SOLUTION: A low cost and low loss substrate 71 made of a high resistivity polycrystalline Si which is intermediate product in the manufacture of single crystal Si necessary for the manufacture of an electronic component and has a resistivity of higher than 200 Ω.cm is provided. A product having transmission lines and/or inductive circuit elements is formed on the substrate 71. Thus, by employing the polycrystalline silicon substrate which has a low cost and a high conductivity, an inductor which has not only an economical advantage but also technical advantage, i.e., the high Q-value and the low loss of its transmission line, over an inductor using a conventional single crystal Si substrate can be obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of a transmitter circuit of a portable telephone set by preparing a constitution where a receiver sends a control signal to a control means against the low intensity of the signal sent from a base station and the control means activates a power amplifier circuit to connect a driver amplifier circuit to the power amplifier circuit and to transmit a desired signal via an antenna. SOLUTION: A signal intensity meter of the receiver circuit of a portable telephone set has a detection circuit which detects the voltage of the signal received from a base station. When the received signal is lowered down to a prescribed level or a prescribed voltage level or less, the detection circuit sends an external control signal to a control means 19. The means 19 activates a power amplifier circuit 16 to operate a 1st three-point switch 20 and to connect the output of a driver amplifier circuit 14 to the input of the circuit 16. Meanwhile, a 2nd three-point switch 22 is operated to connect the output of the circuit 16 to an antenna 13. Thus, a desired transmission signal is sent to the circuit 16 from the circuit 14 and radiated via the antenna 13.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an operation with practically high power amplifier efficiency to the output power level over a wide range by generating bias signals so as to change the operation bias point of a power amplifier as the function of power display signals. SOLUTION: The output voltage signals of the power amplifier 38 are connected to the input terminal of a power detection device such as a coupler 40. By the use of the coupler 40, a power signal level at the output terminal of the power amplifier 38 is monitored and detected regardless of a load state in the output of an amplifier 36. The detected input power signal level is connected to the input terminal of an envelope detector 44 an the bias signals of a transistor used for the power amplifier 38 is changed in a converter 46. Thus, a high frequency power amplifier like the one used in a battery driven radio terminal extends the usable time of a battery and the device is turned to the more reliable one.

Abstract: An indoor wireless communications system using two-way active-antenna repeaters to distribute signals received from external signal sources within an office, and to extend the range of cordless phone units in use there, is disclosed. The repeaters provide menu-selectable phase-shifting, selectable receiver sensitivity and transmitter power, and selectable signal format conversion to provide added privacy and to prevent interference with communication links in use by third parties within the building. Pattern selection is done by empirical adjustment of an antenna pattern suited to the general floor plan of the area served.

Abstract: A dynamic power amplifier advantageously employed in a wireless terminal for transferring and receiving signals from a base terminal includes an input amplifier (38) adapted to receive an input signal having a given power signal level corresponding to the distance of said wireless terminal to the terminal and adapted to provide an amplifier output signal having a given power output signal level. The dynamic amplifier further includes a power sensor (40) configured to receive the power output signal and to generate a power indication signal (at 50) corresponding to the power output signal, and a converter (46) adapted to receive the power indication signal in order to generate a biasing signal corresponding to the power indication signal. The biasing signal is applied to the input amplifier (52) so that the operating bias point of the power amplifier (38) varies as a function of the power indication signal.
