    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system which enables continuous hearing of a preferable broadcasting format, while traveling from an area to another area by allowing a frequency tuner to update frequency selection in accordance with the change of the place of a receiver. SOLUTION: The location of an automobile 10 is transmitted by a GPS satellite system 14 and is decided by a receiver 12, by using information received by an antenna 16. When the automobile 10 travels out of an area A and travels into an area B, the radio frequency of a station in the area B is switched in the same format as the format in which listening is presently performed by using the database in the receiver 12. The database includes respective sections for the formats of different radio stations, and each format section includes a frequency based on the location. An appropriate frequency is decided by using the formats and positional information as pointers to be inputted to the database.

    Abstract: A communication system is provided to transmit information pertaining to a measured operational characteristic of a vehicle to an external device via a wireless transmitter. The external device may be mounted as a receiver in an adjacent vehicle which is provided with a display to display a parameter of the information transmitted. The vehicle may have a receiver adapted to receive information from a roadside transmitter and preferably a database is populated by the measurement information received from a plurality of vehicles in the vicinity. The information transmitted may include vehicle speed, direction, location, an indication of braking, wheel slippage, lane or general performance of the vehicle. In use the transmitter and receiver form a temporary local area network between at least two vehicles and preferably form a Bluetooth õ piconet. Other embodiments provide for the collation of real time traffic data based on the transmitted information and transmission of a speed limit to a vehicle from a road side transmitter or roadway sign. Another embodiment adjusts a driving control of a vehicle in response to a received transmission where the driving control is the accelerator, brakes or steering control.
