    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conducting a test on a communication link for high speed services by installing test equipment starting the test with a test unit from a first end part in accordance with the termination of a call in the second end part of the communication link during a prescribed time interval. SOLUTION: A communication unit 140 positioned in a test device 100 starts a call or receives a call from customer station private device(CPE) 115. When the user of CPE115 wishes to learn whether a communication line 105 can support high speed service, the test device 100 connects a test unit 135 to a data line 130 or the communication unit 140 automatically or in response to the intervention of the user. When the call is terminated, the test device 100 starts a high speed test by the test unit 135. It is desirable that the high speed service test is conducted within a timewise interval which is previously selected, 10 seconds, for example, after CPE115 terminates the call.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a digital compatible plain old telephone service channel card and a method for using the same, which does not need additional devices, such as a divider or the like, when a digital subscriber's line(XDSL) service is provided in a plain old telephone service(POTS) telephone channel. SOLUTION: The digital compatible plain old telephone service channel card comprises a low-pass filter 246 and constituted, so that a digital subscriber line(XDSL) compatible 'plain old telephone service'(POTS) channel card interfaces a subscriber in a two-wire type subscriber's line and a communication exchange system; and a channel card 238 is connected to the subscriber's line and to process to filter a DSL signal, a channel support circuit 244 constituted to supply a power to the subscriber's line; a codec unit 242 for converting an analog signal from the subscriber's line to a digital signal and a digital signal from the communication exchange system to an analog signal to the subscriber's line; and a digital signal processor 240 connected between the codec 242 and the exchange system and constituted to give the appearance of a terminal end of the POTS service to the subscriber's line and the exchange system.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with not only digital subscriber line service(DSL service) but also satisfactory telephone service (POTS) by installing twisted pair loops having non-uniform frequency responses and a means correcting the non-uniform frequency response on a sound communication signal. SOLUTION: One terminal 18 of a loop 12 is connected to a POTS frequency divider 28. The other POTS frequency divider 38 at the other end part 24 of the loop 12 is constituted to be substantially similar to the frequency divider 28 and an associated low pass filter 34. Assembly is executed by removing an existing loading coil from a long distance loop. When it is executed, the loop 12 can support DSL service that can function with the non-uniform frequency response. A step for correcting the non-uniform frequency response on a sound communication signal is executed and satisfactory POTS sound communication by the same loop is realized.
