Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure ink colorant hardening perfectly and applying prescribed amount of UV irradiation by limiting speed of manufacturing process. SOLUTION: This method and device for processing wire like product is so constructed that a processing product passing through a hardening oven with high speed along a first route is hardened by an assembly. The assembly has members such as sheaves which change the first route, make the processing product pass through the oven and reorient at least along a second route apart from the first route. These plural sheaves in the first embodiment, make the processing product pass through an entrance edge of the oven and reorient, and make the same move along the second route in the same direction with the first route. In the second embodiment, the members change the route reorienting the processing product at an exit edge, and make the second route transfer in the opposite direction with the first route. Further hardening can be obtained by passing the product through the oven in the same direction or opposite direction according to requirements or needs.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the access to fibers in a central part when optical fiber ribbons are divided by allowing the fibers selected among the plural color coded optical fibers to have the strength of adhesion varying between fiber coating layers and a matrix. SOLUTION: The individual optical fibers 21 to 24 and 26 to 29 are coated with the colored layers and are then cured, and arrayed in the prescribed positions of the ribbon and are sealed into a matrix material 18. The number of the optical fibers included in respective sub-units and the number of the sub-units by which the ribbon is divided are determined. The adhesive power between the matrix of the first and second adjacent fibers and the adhesive layers is increased, by which the optical fiber ribbon which can be divided to the plural sub-units is obtained. The colored layers of the respective fibers contain peeling agents. The amounts of the peeling agents of the first and second fibers are decreased. The amounts of the peeling agents of the first and second fibers are preferably specified to about 15 to 40% of the amounts of the remaining peeling agents.

Abstract: An assembly for curing a linear work product which is passed through a curing oven at high speed along a first path the assembly having a first path altering member, such as a sheave, re-directing the work product through the oven along at least a second path spaced from the first path. A plurality of such sheaves in a first embodiment redirect the work product through the entrance end of the oven for travel along a second path in the same direction as in the first path. In a second embodiment, the path altering members re-direct the work product into the exit end of the oven for travel in a second path in the opposite direction to the first path. Additional curing may be realized by passing the work product through the curing oven in the same or in opposite directions, as desired or as necessary.
