    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent accidental movements of a dust cover or its movement by gravity by providing separated first and second pivot arms on the upper surface of the L-shaped dust cover, and providing a spring arm slightly curved at the tip from the upper surface of the center. SOLUTION: Two ends of a pivot pin 19 mounted on an adapter by a cantilever arm 17 are formed to be compatible with the recesses at the tip of a second pivot arm 46. The pivot pin 19 has a protruded cam 27, and the curved tip 52 of a spring arm 51 is brought into contact with the protruded cam 27 when the pivot arm 46 is mounted on the pivot pin 19. When a dust cover 31 is mounted on a cap 23, the ends of the pivot pin 19 enter the recesses of the pivot arm 46, and the tip of the spring arm 51 is mounted on the protruded cam 27, thereby the dust cover 31 is held at its position the spring arm 51 against the protruded cam 27.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate assembling of an optical fiber build-out in the job site and to hold a matching sleeve with high reliability by extending a mount flange to the outside of a longitudinal direction axis so as to leave from a tubular body. SOLUTION: A pair of first attaching flanges 21 which are spaced apart and faced each other are formed in a position of nearly a second end 15 of a cylindrical body 11 between first and second ends of the cylindrical body, and those flanges 21 are extended outward from the cylindrical body 11. Also, a pair of second attaching flanges 22 which are spaced apart and faced each other are provided as one part of the cylindrical body 11, and those attaching flanges 22 are respectively spaced apart from the respective first flanges 21 for receiving an attaching panel by snap fitting between those and also are faced each other. And an annular mount flange is formed in the middle part of the ends on an outer surface of the body, and the mount flange is extended from the axis in the outside direction and is formed into such a size and shape that it is housed in a build-out cap boy the form of snap fitting.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved attenuating element capable of being used in coupling to all types of optical fibers. SOLUTION: The attenuating element is provided with a block shaped head, the head is provided with a tapered side wall and a chamfered part extending along the side wall and the lower flat surface, a neck is extended from the lower flat surface of the head and further an attenuating disk is extended from the neck. The attenuating element is assembled and arranged so as to incline at the angle of 90 deg.-82 deg. to the longitudinal axis of a matching sleeve used in coupling to the optical fiber. Thus, the attenuating element is adaptable to coupling to the optical fiber in either case when the end surface of a ferrule is mutually matched or inclined to the longitudinal axis of a matching sleeve. Also, the attenuating element is selectively assembled and arranged so as to rotate between facing ferrule end surfaces within the matching sleeve with respect to the longitudinal axis of the attenuating element.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily arrange a buildout lock within any one of plural openings of the same size and shape by inserting and housing a buildout base by a snap fitting type into the panel opening and including any one of the buildout bases of different kinds. SOLUTION: The buildout base 10 consists of an elongated cylindrical body 11 formed around a vertical axis. A pair of mounting flanges 21 which part from each other and face each other are formed in the position of nearly the second end 15 of the cylindrical body 11. These flanges 21 extend outward from the cylindrical body 11. A pair of second mounting flanges 22 which part from each other and face each other are disposed as part of the cylindrical body 11. These mounting flanges 22 are parted from the first mounting flanges 21 for receiving a mounting panel therebetween by snap fitting and face each other. When the second flanges 22 pass the openings of the panel, notches 23 are butted against the edges of the openings and are received in the mounting panel.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to connect optical fiber connectors of different types to each other by providing a buildout base with two locking tabs and receiving a buildout cap in the buildout base by snap fitting. SOLUTION: The buildout cap 32 includes an elongated cylindrical body 32 formed around a vertical axis 34 having a first end 36 and a second end 37 which part from each other. The buildout cap 32 includes a cap latch mechanism 43 for fixing the cap to any one among the buildout bases of different types. The cap latch mechanism 43 consists of a first elastic flange 44 and second elastic flange 45 which part from each other and face each other. A pair of the locking tabs 47 are formed on these flanges 44 and 45. The locking tabs 47 are formed to the size and shape at which the buildout base is received therein in a relation of snap fit connection to the locking tabs.

    Abstract: A connector adapter (13) and dust cover (31) therefor are pivotably connected by means of a pivot pin (19) on the adapter and pivot arms on the dust cover whose distal ends engage the pivot pin. The pivot pin has a cam member (27) located intermediate its ends, and the dust cover has a spring arm (51) between the pivot arms whose distal end engages the cam member. In the closed position, the distal end of the spring arm engages the cam below its high point. In the fully open position, the distal end of the spring arm engages the cam beyond its high point. In both positions, the spring arm bears against the cam to resist dislodgment of the dust cover from either position.
