    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat an adjacent channel interference by including the information different from the display other than the digital displays into the information included in one of digital displays which include the signal information and transmitting every display via its allocated frequency band. SOLUTION: A C stream showing the minimum core audio information is transmitted via a sub-band 303 that is set between (fc-5) kHz and (fc+5) kHz and has resistance to a 2nd adjacent channel interference. An E1 stream showing the 1st strengthened audio information is transmitted via a sub-band 305 set between (fc-15) kHz and (fc-5) kHz, and an E2 stream showing the 2nd strengthened audio information is transmitted via a sub-band 307 set between (fc+5) kHz and (fc+15) kHz. Both E1 and E2 streams suffer the 2nd adjacent channel interference. The minimum core audio information is strengthened by the E1 or E2 stream according to whether the sub-bands 305 and 307 are significantly affected by the 2nd adjacent channel interference or not.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an error with respect to information bits of a different class, even when a same CPPC code pair is in use by dividing audible frequency information bits into n-sets of classes based on error sensitivity and assigning bits of each class, so that a class of the bits whose error sensitivity is highest is transmitted through a channel most immune to the effect of interference. SOLUTION: An audible frequency packet from an audible frequency coder 210 is fed to a classification device 212, that converts its packet into a respective bit stream, corresponding to n-sets of different classes in audible frequency information bits. The classification device 212 assigns bit for each class to any of available channels so that the class of the bit most sensitive to an error can be transmitted through a channel most immune to interference. The classification device 212 applies respective bit streams to one-set of channel coder 214. An output therefrom is fed to one-set of interleaver 215.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for the improved processing of information provided in an environment, where a non-uniform interference signal exists, in a communication system. SOLUTION: An FM HIBOC DAB system 200 is provided with a transmitter and a receiver. As a digital part of the system 200, a PAC audio coder 202 compresses a coded audio signal, generates that signal into bit rate of 96 kbps and supplies it to a CRC encoder 204. This output is supplied to a channel coding and modulation subsystem 210. A demodulated and decoded received signal is applied to a CRC decoder 212, an error symbol is generated and supplied through an output 242 to a preceding step and a continuous noise erasing process is provided. The error symbol is further used for the triggering of a conventional error recovery process in the PAC audio decoder 214 as well. The audio signal reproduced from the decoder 214 is converted into audibly sensible form by an output device 216.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate/reduce interference in the case of simultaneous transmis sion of an analog FM signal and a digital modulation signal. SOLUTION: A transmission system 300 is configured such that an analog FM signal denoting 1st information and a digital modulation signal denoting 2nd information are sent simultaneously on a same FM frequency band. Before the transmission, a multi-carrier modem 303 calculates the effect of the analog FM signal onto the digital modulation signal and a pre-processing unit 307 eliminates the effect in advance from an analog digital modulation signal. Moreover, a carrier subset used for actual digital transmission is selected by a carrier insert module 316 among digital transmission carriers of the multi-carrier modem 303 so that the interference onto the analog FM signal caused by digital transmission is at a minimum level. The corrected digital modulation signal and the analog FM signal are added and the sum is sent simultaneously at a composite signal.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved error detection technology used to process digital audio information received by a digital communication system or information of other types. SOLUTION: To control the generation of an error indicator for a packet, control information relating to a given packet of received information is specified and compared with the decoding condition of the packet. More specifically, the error indicator can be generated according to the inconsistency between the control information and decoding condition. For example, when arbitrary inconsistency between a packet length indication and the necessary number of bits results in the generation of an error flag for the packet, the control information possibly includes an indication of packet length which can be compared with the number of bits needed to decode the corresponding packet. This invention is used suitably, specially, for the processing of encoded digital audio information received by a hybrid in-band on-channel (HIBOC) digital audio broadcasting(DAB) system, but applicable to information of other types and communication systems of other types.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore a data packet lost during transmission while reducing delay in decoding almost half the conventional technique practice without performing a complicated mathematical operation. SOLUTION: In the case of encoding a series of data packets showing continuous information streams, this method encodes a transmitted 1st data packet so as to construct the encoded 1st data packet with a 1st set of payload information showing the 1st part of the information streams, encodes a 2nd data packet following the 1st data packet so as to construct the encoded data packet with a 2nd set of payload information showing a 2nd part following the 1st part and further makes the encoded 2nd data packet so as to include an additional set of payload information that shows only the 1st part of the information streams but does not show the other parts.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for generating digital modulated signals capable of being transmitted simultaneously with host analog FM signals and achieving wide coverage. SOLUTION: Synthetic signals x' (t) including the host analog FM signals and the digital modulated signals are transmitted by an allocated FM frequency band and then, the power spectrum of the digital modulated signals overlaps at least partially with the one of the analog FM signals. After receiving the synthetic signals, an extension Kalman filter 531 is used and the analog FM signals are generated corresponding at least to the synthetic signals. Information expressed by the digital modulation signals is reproduced as a difference between the synthetic signals and the analog FM signals.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission technology for digital audio information and other information by which enhanced performance capability is attained in a digital audio broadcast(DAB) system. SOLUTION: A channel code can include an external channels code such as a cyclic redundancy code(CRC) and an internal channel code such as a complementary punctured pair convolution(CPPC) code. Many code words of an external code are related to a given packet of digital information according to a specific external code configuration in order to provide partial error flagging to different parts of the given packet in this invention. An information encoder such as a PAC encoder interacts with an external code encoder to decide bit assignment for packet transmission at a specific bit rate on the basis of at least partially an external code configuration.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for decoding for the purpose of transmission of many programs by deinterleaving information corresponding to a frame by using specified deinterleaving length and decoding inner or outer codes of a program. SOLUTION: Information corresponding to >=1 frame is deinterleaved by using the specified deinterleaving length, at least inner or outer codes of the program are decoded, and an output signal corresponding to the selected one of the program is generated. For example, a multi-program decoder 50 suitably decodes a single program in a given program cluster. The input to the decoder 50 is an F frame set 52 which includes F frames 54-1 to 54-K from clusters 1 to K. Then an F frame from one of clusters 1 to K is supplied to a deinterleaver 60 at a given time.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize transmission of many programs using common error concealment by applying in common an outer code to sub blocks of an encoded bit stream obtained by encoding a bit stream and relating the respective sub blocks to a single outer code block. SOLUTION: Bit streams relating to respective programs are encoded according to specified bit allocation. Then an outer code is applied in common to the sub blocks of subsets of the obtained encoded bit streams and the sub blocks are related to a single outer code block. For example, a code block 60 is shared by four programs for multi-program concealment. Namely, four program sub block 62-1 to 62-4 are included. This example is applied to a cluster 66, which is constituted as five sub clusters 68.
