    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit and receive teletype information to substantially reduce adverse effects on teletype information by the quality of the communication channel of a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: Equipment of a wireless communication system receives teletype signals for transmitting teletype information. The teletype information is encoded as repetitive signals and transmitted through the wireless communication system. The repetitive signals are the signals encoded by the teletype information, and the encoded signal is duplicated at least once and connected to the original encoded signal. In such a manner, the repetitive signals are the string of the duplicated encoded signals. Thus, by repeating the teletype information within the repetitive signals, when the repetitive signals are transmitted through the wireless communication system and then received, the teletype information is restored from a part of the repetitive signals which are still not adversely affected by the wireless communication system.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit (that is transmit and receive) teletype signals through a wireless communication system to substantially reduce adverse effects on teletype information due to the quality of the communication channel of a system. SOLUTION: This teletype signal processor 200 receives signals and determines whether or not reception signals are teletype signals. When it is determined that the signals are not teletype signals, the teletype signal processor 200 does not process the signals. When it is determined that the reception signals are teletype signals, the teletype signal processor 200 leads out the teletype information from the teletype signals and expresses the teletype information as at least as one message. In an embodiment, the teletype signal processor 200 transmits the at least one message instead of the teletype signals or together with the teletype signals.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for improving calling speech quality by phone from a mobile station to a mobile station. SOLUTION: This method improves calling speech quality by phone from a mobile station to a mobile station by tandem vocoder processing, and compensates digital distortion caused by a 2nd vocoder by correcting the speech signal spectrum before the signal is processed by the 2nd vocoder. The speech signal spectrum is corrected by using an adaptive filter. According to this invention, calling speech quality by phone from a 1st mobile phone (mobile station) to a 2nd mobile phone (mobile station) is almost similar to calling speech quality by phone from a mobile phone to a desktop telephone.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loss or degradation at the time of transmission through a wireless transmission channel by detecting critical frames and improving the strength thereof before transmitting them. SOLUTION: A power controller 305 controls whether each frame in the power output of a channel encoder 303 is to be determined as a critical frame or not to be determined as a function for each frame. Therefore, when it is detected the critical bit in a bit stream outputted by a critical frame detector 204 is set by the power controller 305, the power controller 305 increases and strengthens the transmission power output of the channel encoder 303 for that frame and decreases each frame resetting the critical bit into normal power output level.

    Abstract: It has been recognized that in a wireless communication system certain frames of encoded speech data transmitted between a base station and a mobile unit, or between a mobile unit and a base station, are more critical than others. A frame may be determined to be erased by the receiving base station or mobile unit due to noise or interference over the wireless transmission medium. If an erased frame cannot be recreated from one or more preceding frames, then it is more critical than a frame that can be recreated by an extrapolation of data from one or more preceding frames. Accordingly, on a frame-by-frame basis, each frame in a sequence of frames is identified as being critical or non-critical. Each frame that is identified as being critical is then transmitted in a manner that is more robust than the manner in which non-critical frames are transmitted to decrease the likelihood that a receiver will determine that the frame is erased. In a CDMA system, a current frame is identified as being critical by forming a weighted sum of the differences between corresponding frame parameters that represent the current frame and frame parameters that represent a previous frame. That weighted sum is compared with a threshold. If the weighted sum exceeds the threshold, then the current frame is classified as being a critical frame and is transmitted at a higher output level than non-critical frames are transmitted.
