Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for providing online billing in an IMS network. SOLUTION: An IMS gateway system receives a first message from CSCF for a call cession through a first interface, and processes the first message to determine whether or not to communicate with OCS for online billing related to the call session. If the determination is to communicate with the OCS, then the IMS gateway system creates a second message included with a billing request to be transmitted to the OCS. The IMS gateway system links a field for the first message in a first protocol to fields for the second message in a second protocol to be used by the OCS, and then transmits the second message to the OCS through a second interface. The second message provides the OCS with appropriate information to execute online billing functions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for providing online charging in an IMS network (100). An IMS gateway system (101) receives a first message (202) from a CSCF (110) through a first interface (112) for a call session, and processes the first message (204) to determine whether to contact an OCS (120) for online charging for the call session. If the determination is to contact the OCS, then the IMS gateway system generates a second message (208) that comprises a charging request to transmit to the OCS. The IMS gateway system then maps fields of the first message in the first protocol to fields in the second message in a second protocol used by the OCS (210), and transmits the second message to the OCS through a second interface (212). The second message provides the OCS the proper information to perform online charging functions for the call session.
Abstract:
Communication networks and methods are disclosed for providing converged prepaid charging and postpaid charging. A communication network (200) described herein includes a switching system (204), a charging selection system (210), a prepaid charging system (220), and a postpaid charging system (230). When the switching system receives a call for a subscriber, the switching system processes a subscriber profile to determine a type of charging for the call. If the type of charging for the subscriber comprises a hybrid prepaid/postpaid charging, then the switching system transmits a query to the charging selection system. Responsive to the query, the charging selection system processes charging criteria to determine whether the hybrid prepaid/postpaid charging for the call should be prepaid or postpaid. The charging selection system initiates prepaid charging or postpaid charging for the call based on the charging criteria.

Abstract:
In an example embodiment, lightwave device for use in a dispersion compensator, includes a light coupler configured to direct light toward a grating structure. The light coupler includes a first strip including a first material and a second strip attached to the first strip. The second strip includes a second material, and the second material has an expansion coefficient different than the first material. The first and second strips form a deformable reflector. A thermoelectric unit is coupled to the light coupler and is configured to adjust a shape of the deformable reflector based on a temperature of the thermoelectric unit. A support member is connected to the light coupler and is configured to position the deformable reflector so to receive light for transmission to the grating structure. Another embodiment provides a dispersion compensator using the lightwave device.
