    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel assignment method for a wireless communication system which includes a fixed multiple beam sophisticated function antenna system. SOLUTION: The method enhances call quality and speech capacity by integrating the dynamic channel assignment technology into the sophisticated function antenna system. The sophisticated function antenna system includes a grouped beam set, each set relates a long list to a 1st short list and each beam relates to a 2nd short list. Part of communication channels is assigned a mobile station on the basis of a short-term interference level measured per each beam of the beam set. The long list and the 1st short list are formed on the basis of long-term and short-term interference levels measured as the highest with respect to each of the plural communication channels traversing each beam in the beam set.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an underlay call to overflow into an overlay channel and to be adapted to the boundary of an underlay cell by determining a route loss threshold, corresponding to each cell in accordance with a procedure for increasing the capacity of a network, while satisfying rules related to intercell interference. SOLUTION: In a method for dividing mobile stations occupying plural cells of a radio communication network between an overlay and an underlay, each cell has a base station and the route loss between the base station of the cell and each mobile station is generated in the cell. When a route loss corresponding to a certain mobile station exceeds the route loss threshold of the cell, respective mobile stations of the cell are allocated to the overlay, and when the corresponding route loss is less than the threshold, respective mobile stations are allocated to the underlay. The route loss threshold of each cell is determined in accordance with a prescribed procedure.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for improving call quality and capacity by integrating a dynamic channel allocation technique into an intelligent antenna system. The intelligent antenna systems includes beams which are grouped into sets, wherein each set has associated a long list and a primary short list, and each beam has associated a secondary short lis t. In one embodiment, long term interference levels are measured on each beam in a set of beams fo r a plurality of communication channels to produce the long list; short term interference levels are measured on each beam in the set of beams for a portion of the plurality of communicatio n channels to produce a plurality of secondary short lists and the primary short list; and communication channels are assigned to a mobile-station from the portion of the plurality of communication channels based on the measured short term interference levels on each beam i n the set of beams.     Abstract: Techniques are disclosed that efficiently obtain channel crosstalk estimates in DSL systems and other communication systems that may include unsynchronized channels. For example, a method includes obtaining a first set of estimated measures of crosstalk for a first portion of a plurality of communication channels over which data signals are to be transmitted from a transmitter to a plurality of receivers, and interpolating a second set of estimated measures of crosstalk for a second portion of the plurality of communication channels based on the first set of estimated measures of crosstalk. The first portion of the plurality of communication channels may be a subset of the plurality of communication channels and the second portion of the plurality of communication channels is a remainder of the plurality of communication channels. Each estimated measure of crosstalk may relate to at least one tone associated with at least one of the plurality of communication channels.
