    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate many investments and improve usability of a broadband subnetwork by a designated narrowband server joining the narrowband relation service function of a proper composite voice route and canceling the composite voice rout after a call is disconnected. SOLUTION: A broadband call processor 104 technically well-known establishes a broadband segment 190 between a subscribing broadband line 131 and a synchronous-asynchronous period converter SAC 116. The SAC 116 (synchronous asynchronous converter) interconnects the segment 190 and the 1st narrowband voice route 172-1, and forms a composite voice route 190/172-1 which interconnects the line 131 and the network element 171 of a designated narrowband server 119. The server 119 establishes a voice route to the callee of a telephone 117 via one channel of a link 172, the SAC 116, a broadband switching structure 106 and the link 162.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically process an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cell with minimum transfer delay by allocating the memory position of a time slot memory to the payload byte of an independent cell and adjusting the writing of payload data into the allocated memory position. SOLUTION: A communication exchange transmits/receives an asynchronizing signal constituted of the independent data cell having individual cell header and payload, which one of signal input/output ports 807-809 allocates to a communication channel. An exchange module processor 801 and a message handler 802 selectively control time slot mutual exchange 820 for setting a communication route between the communication channels. The memory positions of the time slot memories (data RAM) 830 and 831 are allocated to the payload bytes of the independent cells and a signal for adjusting the writing of payload data to the allocated memory position is generated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a mobile unit user to surely eliminate the noises which are caused by the mobile unit and a transmitting environment of wireless communication by mounting a network muting function. SOLUTION: In this system, a network muting function is added to a mobile unit 110. When the network muting function is started, the unit 110 sends a message to a mobile switching center 140 to cut a voice path that secures the mutual connection between a user of the unit 110 and other participants. Thus, the center 140 connects the voice path to a noise generator 148 which supplies a background noise that can be heard by only other participants and hardly disturb the participants. The user of a muted unit 110 can hear all communications from other participants. Meanwhile, the user of the unit 110 dials an access code to start the network muting function.

    Abstract: A network mute feature deployed in a wireless telecommunications system allows a mobile user to eliminate ambient environmental and wireless transmission noise. Upon activation of the network mute feature, a voice path interconnecting the mobile unit to a party served by the public switched telephone network (PSTN) is opened. A portion of the open voice path is subsequently interconnected to a noise generator so that the PSTN party hears unobtrusive background noise indicating that the mobile user is still "on the line" and can hear transmissions by the party. The PSTN party, however, cannot hear noises associated with mobile user's environment or wireless transmission while the network mute feature is activated. Advantageously, the network mute feature enhances the ability of mobile users to participate in calls in which the quality of transmission (e.g., a conference call) is important.

    Abstract: A method for providing narrowband-related service features to subscribing broadband lines (131,133) comprises establishing a composite voice path interconnecting a narrowband server (119) and the subscribing broadband line (131) via a broadband switching fabric (106). Particularly, a call set-up signal is received in a broadband call processor (104), converted to narrowband signaling format and extended to a designated narrowband server (119). Responsive to receipt of the call set-up signal, the designated narrowband server (119) establishes a narrowband voice path interconnecting a narrowband network element (177) to a synchronous-asynchronous converter (116). Subsequently, the broadband call processor (104) establishes a broadband segment interconnecting the subscribing broadband line (131) with the synchronous-asynchronous converter (116). The broadband segment corresponds to the narrowband voice path to form a composite voice path. The composite voice path is used by the designated narrowband server (119) to provide narrowband-related service features to the subscribing broadband line (131). After a call in which narrowband-related features may be invoked has been disconnected, the composite voice path is released.
