Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate many investments and improve usability of a broadband subnetwork by a designated narrowband server joining the narrowband relation service function of a proper composite voice route and canceling the composite voice rout after a call is disconnected. SOLUTION: A broadband call processor 104 technically well-known establishes a broadband segment 190 between a subscribing broadband line 131 and a synchronous-asynchronous period converter SAC 116. The SAC 116 (synchronous asynchronous converter) interconnects the segment 190 and the 1st narrowband voice route 172-1, and forms a composite voice route 190/172-1 which interconnects the line 131 and the network element 171 of a designated narrowband server 119. The server 119 establishes a voice route to the callee of a telephone 117 via one channel of a link 172, the SAC 116, a broadband switching structure 106 and the link 162.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain direct execution of switching control by a program controlled by a processor by controlling the loading of the cache memory of a microprocessor, accepting a serial input to a switchboard, and selectively outputting a signal from a received signal according to desired connection by a time slot mutual switching unit. SOLUTION: When the synchronizing loading of input buffers 101-102 from a serial input stream is started, parallel transmission is successively operated, and a parallel bus 105 is driven. Four relevant 64 bit data buses are read from each of the (n) pieces of input buffers 101-102 under the control of a program stored in a microprocessor 120 connected with the bus 105, and a burst input constituted of 256 bits is accepted. Then, a 256 bit output burst can be outputted by operating writing in each of (n) pieces of output buffers by the four relevant data buses under the control of a control map and the program of the microprocessor.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system having performance which is sufficient to efficiently and synthetically process the both narrow band and wide band traffics and to execute a large non-blocking network by permitting a center network to receive inputs from a plurality of connection modules in a standard format and exchanging the signals between the modules. SOLUTION: A microprocessor controls the operation of a time slot mutual exchange unit by a program cache 201 arranged inside. The output of the cache 201 is transmitted to a queue 203 for storing a plurality of instructions to enable the high speed execution of a simple loop by pipeline technique. The instruction queue mutually works with an instruction control program 205 and a proper instruction is transmitted to an arithmetic and logical unit ALU 207. The ALU 207 executes the received instruction, controls a load storage unit for performing access to a data cache 211 and executes the instruction.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device which is inexpensive and efficient by allowing a microprocesseor connected to an input buffer to perform switching according to a control program and including data sent by a different protocol in a different input stream. SOLUTION: An input/output decoder unit 130 performs gate output of the tri-state output of the input buffer to a bus under the control of the microprocessor and also performs gate output of the output of the bus to (n) output buffers 111...112. The input/output decoder 130 receives the input from a microprocessor address bus. Further, the bus 105 is connected to data which are not used frequently like data needed for a test and a diagnosis, a program text, a TSI code microprocessor program text which is not read in a cache, etc. The bus 105 is further connected to a control register 124 which receives and sends the control message.

Abstract: An enhanced communication network switch utilizes a Time Slot Interchange facility to decompose and compose composite ATM cells that each comprise a 5 byte header and a 48 byte payload. The payload comprises data from a temporarily defined set of call connections of a virtual 48 channel transmission facility; and t he switch comprises a Cell Header Decoder comprising a plurality of records which dire ct operation of the TSI to decompose corresponding received composite ATM cells . Atthe time that a cell is committed to call connection service, the switch seizes and initializes an idle record in the Cell Header Decoder. For the purpose of composing a composite ATM cell for transmission to an ATM line, Cell Header and payload data are read from memory locations assigned t o call connections served by the cell during the time slots currently assigned to t he cell.

Abstract: An enhanced form of time switch. Serial bit streams received in input buffers are stored in parallel under program control in the cache of a pipe lined microprocessor. The microprocessor, under program control, then rearranges the received time slots and feeds them in parallel to output buffers from which serial bit streams are generated. Advantageously, program control is used to flexibly control the various functions of different time switches without requiring a change in the hardware.

Abstract: Apparatus, and a method for switching digital signals of different protocols in a large switching network. Signals and different protocols are encapsulated in a common protocol by a set of input modules. The signals in the common protocol are then switched by a large central stages to a plurality of output modules, which then generate signals in the correct protocol. Narrow-band signals are converted into broadband signals, so that the central stage switches only broadband signals. This simplifies the design of the central stage, while still making it possible to have a very large and economical central stage switch. Advantageously, this arrangement allows a single large switch to switch large quantities of traffic in a plurality of protocols.

Abstract: A method for providing narrowband-related service features to subscribing broadband lines comprises establishing a composite voice path interconnecting a narrowband server and the subscribing broadband line via a broadband switching fabric. Particularly, a call set-up signal is received in a broadband call processor, converted to narrowband signaling format and extended to a designated narrowband server. Responsive to receipt of the call set-up signal, the designated narrowband server establishes a narrowband voice path interconnecting a narrowband network element to a synchronous-asynchronous converter. Subsequently, the broadband call processor establishes a broadband segment interconnecting the subscribing broadband line with the synchronous-asynchronous converter. The broadband segment corresponds to the narrowband voice path to form a composite voice path. The composite voice path is used by the designated narrowband server to provide narrowband-related service features to the subscribing broadband line. After a call in which narrowband-related features may be invoked has been disconnected, the composite voice path is released.
