    Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of mercury to contribute to environmental protection by reducing a filled mercury amount so as to lessen the variation thereof. CONSTITUTION: Both ends of a glass tube 1 having a fluorescent substance layer 2 on the inner face thereof are sealed by glass stems 3. The glass stem 3 of one end portion is equipped with a glass stem main body 3a, an exhaust tube 5 one end of which is choked by chip--off and the other end of which is integrated with the glass stem main body 3a, alloy 8 containing mercury and set in the exhaust tube 5, and a bar-like or cylinder-like glass body 6 holding the ally 8 in the exhaust tube 5, and one end of the glass body 6 is united at least with one side glass stem main body 3a. The glass stem 3 holds an electrode 4. A zinc-mercury alloy grain 8, for instance, as the alloy 8 containing the mercury is provided in a space between the end of the glass body 6 and a chip-off portion 7 in the exhaust tube 5 at the side chipped off last.

CONSTITUTION:A titanium oxide film 3 is formed by wet coating on the inner face of a G70 glass bulb 2 made of soft glass and having a filament 1 inside an incandescent lamp, and a silica film 4 containing titanium yellow and ultramarine blue 2-9wt.% is electrostatically coated on the titanium oxide film 3. The light emitted from the filament 1 of the incandescent lamp is made the green diffused light by the silica film 4 containing titanium yellow and ultramarine blue and is made the faint soft green light by being further diffused by the titanium oxide film 3.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress variations of the tube current and tube voltage by installing two filaments in such a manner as to position their coil axes parallel to each other and then connecting a glow lamp in between facing terminals of the filaments and connecting a power supply in between the other terminals. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent lamp is assembled by installing two filaments 2 and 3 in a glass tube 1 in such a manner as to position the coil axes of the filaments 2 parallel to each other in the axial direction. The lamp is ignited by connecting a glow lamp 4 in between adjacent terminals 2a and 3a of the filaments 2 and 3 and connecting a power supply 5 in between the remaining terminals 2b and 3b. Because of the above structure, a spot is produced near the terminals 2b and 3b during the initial stage of electric discharge and a discharge current starts to flow from this spot. Consequently, successive reductions of the tube current and successive increases of the tube voltage are suppressed, thereby preventing flickering of the glow lamp 4.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable starting with a starting voltage being lowered in a rapid starting type lighting circuit by forming a conductive filament of 1 mm to 3 mm in width along tube axes on outer surfaces of glass tubes. CONSTITUTION:A rapid starting type fluorescent lamp is formed of two rectilinear glass tubes 1 of 13 mm to 24 mm in their inner diameters so as to communicate at their upper parts to compose a container. Phosphor films 2 are formed on inner surfaces of these glass tubes 1, and electrodes are sealed on both ends of the glass tubes 1. Further, mercury of several +mgs and inert gas of several Torrs are sealed in the glass tubes 1. A base 4 is mounted on one end of the container. A conductive filament 5 of 1mm to 3mm in width, for example, made of an aluminium foil or the like is formed along tube axes on outer surfaces of the glass tubes, and at least one end of its filament is electrically connected with one of base pins 6 planted in the base 4. Hence, lighting is enabled sufficiently with a lamp starting voltage much lowered in a rapid starting type lighting circuit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rigidly stick an alloy granule to the tube inside wall and reduce the average quantity and dispersion of a sealed mercury by applying radiation beam energy at a contact part with an alloy containing a sealed mercury and a glass tube and in the vicinity thereof. SOLUTION: Both ends of a straight tube shaped glass tube having a phosphor layer 2 on an interior wall face are sealed in a glass stem 3 having an electrode 4 and circular shaped by heating. After air is exhausted from an air exhaust tube 8 of one stem 3 not enclosed, an alloy granule 6 of zinc or the like and mercury and rare gas of a specified pressure are sealed and enclosed. Radiation beam energy is irradiated from an optical fiber 5 with an end 7 of a glass tube 1 where the alloy granule 6 is moved. Thereby, a part of the alloy granule 6 is fused, intruded into a ragged part on an interior wall face of the tube 1, and secured. It is preferable that the end 7 is preheated at a specified temperature before irradiation of radiation beams, and production efficiency is improved. Since the alloy granule 6 is sealed after being circularly molded, mercury is discharged during mold heating, and air is never exhausted by a air exhaust process.

In such constitution, the wall thickness of the glass outer tube 1 is preferable within a range of 0.4-1.2mm from the absorption effect of yellow color light and luminous flux quantity, and the containing quantity of neodymium oxide is desired to be 3-7wt.% on the basis of all luminous flux and a mean color rendering evaluation number.
