Abstract: In a refrigerant compression type refrigerating system for use in the field of refrigerating/air conditioning employing a hydrocarbon refrigerant containing an odorant, the concentration of the odorant at the time of refrigerant leakage is kept on a sensible level. The refrigerant composition contains at least one ingredient selected among ethane, propane, cyclopropane, propylene, and isobutane. It contains ammonia in an amount of 1 to 60 wt. %, preferably 1 to 20 wt. %, as an odorant.
