    Abstract: PURPOSE: To operate an optimum refrigerating cycle by suitably holding a pressure reduced amount for the changes of operating conditions and the length of a refrigerant tube for coupling an outdoor unit to an indoor unit. CONSTITUTION: A heat pump type air conditioner comprises a first temperature detector Th1 for detecting the outlet side tube temperature Tp1 of an outdoor pressure reducing capillary tube Exp1 at the time of cooling, a second temperature detector Th2 for detecting the outlet tube temperature Tp2 of an indoor heat exchanger 5, a first differential pressure calculator Cal1 for calculating the refrigerant pressure difference ΔP1 from the temperatures Tp1, Tp2, and a first expansion valve controller Cnt1 for controlling the opening of an indoor expansion valve Exp2 so that the difference ΔP1 falls within a predetermined range A.

CONSTITUTION: An outdoor expansion valve Exp1 is installed in an outdoor unit A' and an indoor expansion valve Exp2 is installed in an indoor unit B' while a heat pump type air-conditioning machine is provided with an outdoor expansion valve controller Cnt1, controlling the opening degree of the outdoor expansion valve Exp1 so that a refrigerant pressure, detected by a third pressure sensor, becomes a predetermined refrigerant pressure for cooling upon cooling operation, and an indoor expansion valve controller Cnt2, controlling the opening degree of the indoor expansion valve Exp2 so that a refrigerant pressure, detected by a fourth pressure sensor, becomes a predetermined refrigerant pressure for heating upon heating operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To keep an amount of a refrigerant held in a refrigerant piping proper by a method wherein an outdoor expansion valve is closed by a specified opening when the dryness of the refrigerant is small while the degree of overheating the refrigerant is large and the outdoor expansion valve is opened by a specified opening when the dryness of the refrigerant is large while the degree of overheating the refrigerant is small. CONSTITUTION: An outdoor expansion valve Exp1 is closed by a specified opening by a first outdoor expansion valve controller GCnt1, when the dryness of a refrigerant on the outlet side of the outdoor expansion valve Exp1 is smaller than a specified value while the degree of overheating the refrigerant on the outlet side of a compressor 1 is larger than a specified range of the upper limit value continuously for more than a specified time length. The outdoor expansion valve Exp1 is opened by a specified opening by the first outdoor expansion valve controller GCnt1 when the dryness of the refrigerant on the outlet side of the outdoor expansion valve Exp1 is larger than the specified value while the degree of overheating the refrigerant on the outlet side of the compressor 1 is smaller than a specified range of the lower limit value continuously for more than a specified time length. This enables keeping of the amount of the refrigerant held proper during heat exchange in a refrigerating cycle thereby achieving a higher cooling operation efficiency.
