    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform slope descending control of good drive feeling along a will of a driver while avoiding a feeling of physical disorder of a shift shock caused by unexpected timing, by setting a degree of an engine brake in a low shift step, switched by the slope descending control, larger in accordance with a lower speed side running range. SOLUTION: In a hold mode, a shift step is fixed to 3rd-gear in a D range, 2nd-gear in an S range and 1st-gear in an L range, and in an overdrive off mode, a constitution of the shift step is changed to 1st to 3rd-gears in the D range, 1st to 3rd-gears in the S range and 1st gear in the L range. In this way, for instance, in the case of advancing in a descending road by 4th-gear of D, a shift down is successively performed from 4th-gear to 3rd-gear, 2nd-gear, a larger engine brake is obtained as desired by a driver. Further in this case the driver is prevented from large feeling a physical disorder of speed change shock.

CONSTITUTION:An idle speed control device includes first and second branch passages 13 and 14 in a bypass passage 10, a first ISC valve 21 provided in the first branch passage 13, a second ISC valve 22 provided in the second branch passage 14, a control unit ECU to control the operation of the first and second ISC valves, and a power control circuit for ISC valve connected to the control unit. For the first ISC valve, a normally closed valve to close in non-energized condition is used and, for the second ISC valve, a normally-open valve to open in non-energized condition is used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a torque shock, caused by a fuel cut, to be reduced even in the time from whatever operative condition the deceleration is performed, by setting a device so as to perform the fuel cut when a bypass air amount is detected to decrease to a predetermined value or less in the time of deceleration. CONSTITUTION:A fuel supplying means 4, which adjusts a fuel injection nozzle 3 provided in an intake passage 2 in accordance with an operative condition, is provided. While a bypass air control means 8, which controls a regulating valve 7 in a bypass passage 6 detouring around a throttle valve 5, is provided. This control means 8 is constituted so as to generate a control signal, which gradually decreases with the lapse of time a bypass air amount set in an air amount setting means 10, when a deceleration condition is detected by a deceleration detecting means 9. While providing a fuel cut means 11 inputting a deceleration detection signal and a bypass air amount detection signal by an air amount detecting means 12, a fuel cut signal is output to the fuel supplying means 4, in the time of deceleration further with the bypass air amount in a predetermined value or less, so as to stop the supply of fuel.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out most suitable fuel cut for each type of transmission, by discriminating the transmission mounted on an automobile whether it is a manual type or an automatic type and by reading the fuel cut revolution and the fuel return revolution corresponding to each type. CONSTITUTION:A means B which supplies fuel to an engine A, and a means C which stops the supply of fuel in a specific operating region of the engine A are provided respectively. On the other hand, in order to specify the specific operating region, the fuel cut revolutions and fuel return revolutions for respective transmissions of a manual type and an automatic type are set respectively, and further a means D by which the width of the former is set greater than that of the latter is provided. Further, a discriminating means E which discriminates the type of transmission mounted on the automobile whether it is of a manual type or an automatic type is provided. And a means F which, when it is discriminated that the transmission is, for instance, of a manual type, read revolutions for the manual type from the means D is provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make improvements in responsiveness and startability, by increasing a first starting injection pulse as much as a portion of almost two times over starting injection pulses of those from the second one at engine starting in the case when fuel is spouted out of each fuel injection valve once per rotation simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 15 is installed each in and around a suction port 5 of each cylinder in an engine 11. On the other hand, each signal out of an air flow meter 12, a throttle sensor 18, a water temperature sensor 20, an oxygen sensor 21 and a distributor 22 is inputted into an engine control unit 17. And, the said unit 17 calculates a fuel injection quantity corresponding to a driving state according to each of these signals aforesaid, and outputs a fuel injection pulse so as to perform fuel injection to each fuel injection valve 15 once per rotation simultaneously at the specified timing in response to an ignition pulse. In this case, at the time of starting, it outputs a first starting injection pulse as increasing it as much as almost two times over starting injection pulses of those from the second one upon compensation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the accelerating performance of an engine having a fuel supply interrupting means, by preventing after-burning and adverse influences accompanied thereby by providing a secondary-air supply control means for supplying secondary air at the portion of an exhaust passage located on the upstream side of a turbine. CONSTITUTION:An engine 1 has a turbocharger 6 which consists of a turbine 6a and a blower 6b. When operation of the engine 1 is shifted to the decelerating mode with closing of a throttle valve 9 and the engine speed is in its high-speed region, output of a fuel control signal (a) from a control circuit 11 is stopped and a fuel injection valve 10 stops injection of fuel. In this state, a driving signal (f) is given and a three-way changeover valve 18 is operated to supply secondary air from an air pump 17 to an exhaust passage 5 at the portion thereof located on the upstream side of the turbine 6a. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent after-burning and adverse influences to the exhaust pipe and a catalytic converter accompanied by the after-burning.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent insufficiency of giving a feeling of deceleration and decrease in the fuel consumption by limiting the quantity of air supplied to an engine when a rise in the engine speed is detected in the case where a vehicle is decelerated by the agency of an engine brake. CONSTITUTION:In the case where a gear-in switch 22 is in the ON position, in a control unit, it is detected whether a brake switch 21 is in the OFF position or not. And, then, if the brake switch 21 is in the OFF position, it is judged that the vehicle in question is in the state where deceleration is performed by the agency of an engine brake with a throttle valve closed completely. When a rise in the engine speed is detected by an engine speed sensor 23 in the above state, an air control valve 14 is controlled to operate so that the quantity of air supplied at the point of time when the rise in the engine speed is detected is maintained as it is. Consequently, in such case, the air supply quantity results in being limited, and thereby, the efficacy of the engine brake is improved and the fuel consumption can also be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve idle stability by finding bypass compensation to a variation in suction air density after subtracting an air quantity other than a bypass passage or a fixed flow part from such one that compensated and operated the whole request idle air quantity. CONSTITUTION:A control signal setting device 7 sets a control signal corresponding to the bypass air quantity that subtracted an auxiliary air quantity, passing through a throttle valve 3 or the like other than a bypass passage 4, from the whole idle air quantity basically at time of idling, and it controls a control valve to the specified opening via a controlling device 6. And, a compensating device 9 compensates the whole idle air quantity according to a suction density variation due to a variation in atmospheric pressure and suction temperature out of a suction state detecting device 8, finding a request idle air quantity to an engine 1, and it calculates the compensation bypass air quantity that subtracted an auxiliary air quantity, flowing in place other than the bypass passage 4, from the request idle air quantity, giving it to the control signal setting device 7. Thus, improvement in idle stability is promotable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the possibility of generating engine damage, by providing a limiting means which limits correction of the ignition timing to its advance timing side after knocking disappears, when a supercharge pressure control means comes to be substantially unable to control a supercharge pressure to be decreased. CONSTITUTION:An engine B is equipped with a turbosupercharger A, and the engine B, having an ignition timing control means C and a supercharge pressure control means D, controls the ignition timing to be retarded by the ignition timing control means C, when generation of knocking is detected, while the ignition timing so as to be advanced to the regular ignition timing when the knocking disappears. While the engine controls the knocking, when it is generated, so as to decrease a supercharge pressure by the supercharge pressure control means D. In a device such as in the above, an advance timing amount limiting means E is further provided, and when a decrease of the supercharge pressure comes to be substantially unable to be controlled by the supercharge pressure control means D, the engine is controlled so as to restrict correction of the ignition timing to its advance timing side by the ignition timing control means C after the knocking disappears.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption by setting the value of the start correction amount, when an engine is stopped once after its start and is resumed within the specified time, to the value in the middle of the start correction amount on the above point for operation stopping after start. CONSTITUTION:When an engine is started, a start correction amount setting means sets the start correction amount for increase correction of the fuel supply amount by a fuel supply amount setting means in order to decrease the start correction amount with the lapse of time afterwards. When the engine is stopped in the middle of the course, a memory means memorizes the value of the start correction amount on that point and an elapsed time indicating means indicates the elapse of time from the point. And, when the engine is resumed before the specified lapse of time, a start correction amount changing means changes the value of the start correction amount set by the start correction amount setting means to the value of the middle of the course. Consequently, the fuel supply amount for engine resuming becomes smaller than that for prior starting, and air fuel ratio is prevented from being overrich, so that combustibility and fuel consumption of mixed air are improved.
