Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized engine by arranging a bolt for installing a chain cover onto a cylinder head inside with respect to the sealing surface on the outer edge of the chain cover. CONSTITUTION:A chain cover 9 covering a chain belt 8 is installed onto the front edge of a cylinder head 2. A bolt hole for the insertion of a bolt 11 for installing the cover 9 onto the cylinder head 2 is formed onto the peripheral edge of the opened port of the chain cover 9, and the right and left sealing surfaces 13 of the cover 9 are curved so that the width of the cover 9 accords with the width of the cylinder head 2 at the back of the chain belt 8. The bolt 11 is arranged inside with respect to the sealing surface 13 on the outer edge of the cover 9. Therefore, the width of the cylinder head is reduced, and the engine can be made compact.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To commonly use a cylinder head by separately forming said cylinder head from a cover member and enabling one end of a cam shaft to be projected out of both end parts in the longitudinal direction of said cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 8 for inserting cam shafts are provided on the wall parts on both sides in the longitudinal direction of each of cylinder heads 2, 3, to rotatably hold cam shafts 5, 6 in such a way that their front ends project forward out of the front side through holes 8. A first cover member 12 is provided on the front side of each cylinder head 2, 3 enabling both cam pulleys 9 to be positioned on the front side of an engine.Thereby, a crank pulley 10 and a chain belt 11 can be collectively arranged on the front side of the engine, and both cylinder heads can be placed in a mutually inverted form as viewed in a plan, enabling a cylinder head to be commonly used without difficulty.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the driving structure of a cam shaft and an oil pump, by driving an connecting together the gear on a crankshaft for taking out a rotational power, reduction gears disposed on respective banks and a drive gear coaxially disposed with the respective reduction gears by a timing belt and a chain, respectively. CONSTITUTION:When cylinder blocks at the right hand and the left hand are disposed at a prescribed angle on the upper portion of a cylinder block 2 for constructing banks 1A, 1B, a gear 10 for taking out a rotational power is disposed on a crankshaft 6. Reduction gears 11, 11 for both the banks 1A, 1B are disposed at the right and left hands above the crankshaft 6 and drive gears 13 are disposed at the extreme ends of the shaft members of the respective reduction gears 11. A timing belt member 16 trained around the gears 13 are also trained around the cam pulley at the end of a cam shaft 5 and a chain 15 is trained around a drive gear 23 provided with the pump shaft 22 of an oil pump 8 disposed below the crankshaft 6 and the above gears 10, 11.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow an ignition device to be applied even to an engine having a narrow valve caliper angle by immersing and arranging a casing containing an ignition coil in an oil space formed with a cylinder head and a head cover. CONSTITUTION:A casing main body 42 containing an ignition coil 36 is immersed and arranged in an oil chamber 24 formed with a cylinder head 8 and a head cover 20. Therefore, even if the valve caliper angle is narrow, e.g., about 36 deg., the ignition coil 36 can be arranged between cam shafts 21, 22. A gap between the casing main body 42 and a plug box 38 fitted with an ignition plug 34 is sealed with an O ring 54, and a gap between the casing main body 42 and the head cover 20 is sealed with a seal member 52 to secure the sealing performance of the oil chamber. Accordingly, the ignition coil can be arranged between the cam shafts even in a DOHC engine having a relatively narrow valve caliper angle.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the interference between a head cover and an intake pipe by positioning a suction valve inside each bank of a V-type engine and arranging an intake passage for other bank over each cam shaft and forming the cylinder head cover into projection form. CONSTITUTION:The intake port 6 of each bank of a V-type engine is installed inside the bank, and an intake passage 16 communicating to the intake port of other bank is arranged over the cam shaft 10 of each suction valve. The length of the intake passage can be set sufficiently long because of the arrangement of the intake passage, and supercharge is carried out by effectively utilizing the intake pulsation. Though the intake passage 16 interferes with a part of the cylinder head cover 15 in position relation, said interference can be prevented by forming the head cover part over the cam shaft 10 into a recessed part 18.
