    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of fuel consumption by spreading the operation region of a control valve which a control valve operation region judging means judges when the outside load is ON, in the constitution in which the control valve for reducing the passage area of an intake passage in the vicinity of a combustion chamber in case of low load is provided. CONSTITUTION:An intake passage control valve A having a variable passage area is installed into an intake passage in the vicinity of a combustion chamber, and drive-controlled by a driving means B. The driving means B is controlled so that the passage area is reduced by closing the control valve A in a prescribed low load region by a control valve operation region judging means into which the output signal of a load detecting means C for detecting the engine load is inputted. An outside load judging means E for judging the ON/ OFF state of the outside load such as air conditioner is installed, and when the outside load is ON, an operation region spreading means F performs control so that the control valve operation region which the judging means D judges is spread.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To equalize a combustion speed and reduce a combustion noise while an emitted quantity of NOx, by controlling a suction swirl so as to suppress an increase of the combustion speed when an engine is controlled to be accelerated in the predetermined operational condition. CONSTITUTION:When an engine 1 is driven in its steady operation with lean air-fuel ratio, the engine, closing a swirl control valve 10 in a combustion speed variable means 14 by an output from a control unit 23, generates a swirl in a mixer in a combustion chamber. Under this condition, when the engine being acceleratively controlled is detected from an output of an operational condition detecting means 22, the engine generates rich-air fuel ratio to be transferred to the theoretical air fuel ratio while opens said control valve 10 to stop the generation of a suction swirl. Then the engine, suppressing a combustion speed from increasing, substantially reduces a noise and a discharge quantity of NOx as compared with the engine in the past.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of noise, by a method wherein, when a swirl control valve provided on a suction port is actuated, actuation is delayed during transfer of an engine from a state in that a swirl is produced during low rotation low load running to a state in that a swirl is produced during high rotation high load running. CONSTITUTION:A straight port 7a having a swirl port 7b and an on-off valve 8 is provided on a suction port 3, and on-off valve 8 is driven for opening and closing by switching and controlling a negative pressure fed to a negative pressure chamber 9b of a negative pressure actuator 9 by means of a 3-way valve 10. During low rotation low load running of an engine, the on-off valve 8 is closed, and a swirl is produced in a combustion chamber 2 by means of an intake air current from the swirl port 7b. When the on-off valve 8 is opened during a time between this state and high rotation high load running, it is opened in delay than a change in running of an engine, and a swirl region is increased to prevent the generation of noise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at the economization of fuel consumption as much as a portion for decrement in the speedup value, by compensating a control value to the lower as much as the specified speed than at time of external load of others of the same load value as engine speed at a time when the whole or a part of the external load is a motor fan. CONSTITUTION:When a headlight switch SW1 and a rear defogger switch SW2 are turned on each, corresponding to the load, an engine control unit 9 sets a target speed (for example, 760r.p.m.) higher than the minimum target speed (for example, 600r.p.m.) for eliminating tooth clattering noise of a transmission at the time of a idle feedback control range being judged by various detection signals. And, when all switches are turned off, it sets the minimum target speed because there is no tooth clattering noise. At the time of operation of an air conditioner, it sets the target speed (for example, 800r.p.m.) according to size of the load value. And, when a blower fan switch SW3 and a cooling fan switch SW5 are turned on each, such a target speed (for example, 700r.p.m.) as in due consideration of fuel consumption is set because the tooth clattering noise is masked by a rotational sound of the fan.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at improvement of the output of an engine by way of suppressing the occurrence of knocking and securing a stable combustion by placing an EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) passage for the supply of EGR gas in such a manner that it points in the direction of a combustion chamber so as to produce the swirl of EGR gas around the outer periphery of the swirl of fresh air. CONSTITUTION:The No.1 port 6a for supplying fresh air and the No.2 port 6b for supplying EGR gas are directed in the nearly tangential direction of a cylinder. Hereby, fresh air (arrow A) from an air intake passage 11, and EGR gas (arrow B) from an EGR passage 17 produce, in a combustion chamber 5, swirls centering round the shaft center O of the cylinder. In addition, the No.2 port 6b is located outside the No.1 port 6a, and the swirl of EGR gas flows, in layers, outside the swirl of fresh air. And accordingly, since there is in existence almost only fresh air around an ignition plug 23, a stable combustion can be secured, while, since EGR gas is present along the wall surface of the cylinder, the occurrence of knocking can also be suppressed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of knocking in an engine having main and sub throttle valves by setting an ignition timing under a closed condition of the sub throttle valve in such a manner that a change rate of the ignition timing with respect to a change in engine speed is smaller than that of an ignition timing to be set under an open condition of the sub throttle valve. CONSTITUTION:Main and sub throttle valves are provided in series in a suction passage. The sub throttle valve is closed under a low load operational condition. An open/closed condition of the sub throttle valve is detected by an open/closed condition detecting means A. A first ignition timing setting means B is provided to set a first ignition timing according to an engine operational condition, and a second ignition timing setting means C is provided to set a second ignition timing whose change rate with respect to a change in engine speed is smaller than that of the first ignition timing. An ignition timing control means D is provided to select the use of the setting means B or C in such a manner that the first ignition timing setting means B is used under the open condition of the sub throttle valve, while the second ignition timing setting means C is used under the closed condition of the sub throttle valve.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an effect for preventing a temporary engine output drop and a gradual output drop in quick acceleration and deceleration by correcting normal ignition timing depending upon the opening of a sub-throttle valve during the predetermined time when an engine is quickly accelerated and decelerated with a main throttle valve quickly opened and closed. CONSTITUTION:An engine has a sub-throttle valve opening and closing depending upon an intake negative pressure at the downstream side of a main throttle valve in an intake passage. In this case, an ignition timing setting means A is used for setting normal ignition timing depending upon an engine operation condition. Also, an ignition timing correction means B is used for correcting the normal ignition timing depending upon the opening of the sub-throttle valve. And when the absolute value of an opening change rate in the main throttle valve is equal to or larger than the predetermined value, with the sub-throttle valve ready to open and close after the opening and closing of the main throttle valve, an ignition timing control means C is used to operate an ignition device D depending upon corrected ignition timing, for example, during a time from the open and close operation of the main throttle valve to that of the sub- throttle valve.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To always compensate a proper intake air amount by making a basic control amount smaller than a value originally set corresponding to a desired rotational frequency when the basic control amount is corrected according to a deviation of rotational frequency of an engine in idling to controllably feed back the rotational frequency. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic valve 8 is interposed in a bypass path 7 provided to bypass a throttle valve 6 and the opening of said valve 8 is controlled by ECU 9 so that the rotational frequency of an engine in idling is controlled. That is, a predetermined basic control amount corresponding to a desired rotational frequency obtained according to the running condition is set to control said valve 8. And when the actual rotational frequency obtained from the corresponding basic control amount does not coincide with the desired one, the basic control amount is corrected according to the deviation of the rotational frequency. Considering the time dependent deviation (green lap variation) of engine characteristics in the early period of running of a new car, that correction sets a value smaller than that originally set according to the desired rotational frequency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce noise due to combustion, by providing a delay mans for delaying the formation of swirl at least when a low load high rotation region is shifted to a low load low rotation region where a swirl variable means for forming swirl in the low load low rotation region is provided. CONSTITUTION:An air intake passage 7 for supplying intake air to the combustion chamber 2 of an engine 1 is divided into first and second passages 7a, 7b in the vicinity of an intake port 3 and the first passage 7a is provided with a shutter valve 8. The second passage 7b has a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the first passage 7a and has an opening at its downstream end opened toward the circumferential direction of the combustion chamber 2. In the air intake device with such an arrangement, a delay unit 11 comprising an orifice 13 and a check valve 14 disposed in parallel are interposed in a passage 12 for introducing the negative pressure of the intake air into the negative pressure chamber 9b of a diaphragm unit 9 for actuating the shutter valve. With this arrangement, when a low load high rotation region is shifted to a low load low rotation region, swirl is formed gradually for preventing an abrupt increase in noise due to combustion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the combustion under a light load high rotation area and to reduce the noise by lowering the rotary range of a swirl control valve for producing a swirl arranged in an intake pipe when the engine is operating under a light load. CONSTITUTION:Primary intake path 21 for producing a swirl and a secondary intake path 22 which does not produce a swirl are provided in an intake pipe 13 wherein a gate valve 23 is arranged in the secondary intake path 22 and controlled by functioning an actuator 25 on the basis of an output signal from a controller 31. The gate valve 23 is opened under a high rotation heavy load, and when a light load condition of engine is detected by the controller 31 on the basis of an engine load 32 such as an intake negative pressure, the outputs from a clutch sensor 34 and a transmission neutral sensor 35, the rotary area for opening the gate valve 23 is brought low on the basis of an output from a rotation sensor 33 so as to open the gate valve 23 earlier, thus reducing the noise.
