    Abstract: A modular wheelchair that is fully adjustable for a wide range of users in a wide range of uses includes a wheelchair chassis (10), a wheel assembly (20) and a seat assembly (30). Drive wheels of the wheel assembly may be adjusted to have a different camber angle without changing the wheel base or the height of the wheelchair chassis. The modular wheelchair may also include a leg rest assembly (40) that is ajustable to provide easy access to the wheelchair. The seat assembly and the leg rest assembly are each foldable so that the wheelchair may be easily stored.

    Abstract: A wheelchair frame assembly is provided with a foot rest mounting assembly (300) and a caster mounting assembly (400) that are mounted on side frame assemblies (103, 104). The foot rest mounting assembly (300) includes two foot plate mounting bars (301) connected to respective side frame assemblies (103, 104) for mounting a foot plate (320). The foot plate mounting bars (301) are positioned such that they angle inwardly towards one another to provide support for the lower portions of the legs and to allow easier movement into tight spaces. A foot plate (320) is mounted to the end of each foot plate mounting bar (301) in a manner that compensates for the obliquely downwardly extending and inwardly tapered nature of the foot plate mounting bar (301). The caster mounting assembly (400) includes a fork (410) that is provided with a plurality of holes (424) for mounting casters (107, 108) of progressively greater diameter and for providing greater trail for progressively greater diameter casters. The wheelchair frame is also constructed to permit adjustment of the seat pan angle without changing the caster alignment and without altering the position of the drive wheel axles. The wheelchair can be constructed by attaching one of several different rear frame portions (500, 600) to a common side frame assembly (103, 104) in order to vary the cost and the performance characteristics of the wheelchair.

    Abstract: An angularly adjustable leg rest assembly (82) for a wheelchair includes a leg rest extension (183) having a top (184) and a bottom (185) end.     Abstract: A wheelchair includes a chassis having a pair of side frame assemblies (101, 102) that are rigidly connected to each other by a seat pan (250). Mounted on each side frame assembly is an interchangeable axle receiving platform (117, 118) for orienting drive wheels (115, 116) at a desired camber angle (7). One end of a seat member (105, 106) is pivotally attached to a foot member (103, 104) for adjustment of the seating angle. By moving an opposite end of the seat member along a curved portion (114) of a bottom member (107, 108) of each side frame assembly (202) is disposed forward of the drivewheels on the chassis. Through the one-piece caster assembly, the seat angle is changed. A one-piece caster assembly, each caster can be simultaneously adjusted to a particular location along the frame.
