Abstract: An impedance monitor for discerning edema through evaluation of respiratory rate. Preferred embodiment includes edema monitor and trigger to initiate diagnostic reporting or corrective action when activated. Recording of Long Term Average and Short Term Average values for secondary edema measure based on DC signal level are described as are methods and apparatus for removing unwanted recurring noise.

Abstract: A minimally invasive implant, means for insertion, and description of how to most efficiently use it are described n several embodiments. This implant preferably has a segmented looping memory for storing triggered physiologic events. Preferred events for setting autotriggers to record physiologic signals occurring during events include arrhythmias and syncopal events. Preferably the device can function without a microprocessor. An outside device or other patient activated manual trigger is included. Auto triggers and manually set triggers may be of different sizes. The preferred physiologic events are ECG signals. Electrode spacing can be critical. Additional sensors may be provided to the device. Preferred communications with the device is through telemetry such as is used for pacemakers and other implanted devices.

Abstract: Pacemaker with improved detection methods for occurrence of vasovagal syncop e episodes. Increased rate pacing followed by fallback to lower rate is a retained feature. The lower rate need not be rel ated to the increased pacing rate. One alternative detec ts stable or persistent rate below a threshold rate after a rapid rate drop through the t hreshold rate. Another alternative detects a "top rate" as a highest persistent rate and compares the difference between it and the rate that fol lows a rate drop through a "drop rate" or other threshol d level. Yet another alternative finds a persistent rate above a first threshold rate before initiating the rate drop detection function. Onc e initiated, this embodiment preferably detects a rate drop from above said first thresho ld to below a second threshold rate, and also preferably detects a stable rate below said second threshold rate. Adaptations to avoiding paci ng activation during sleep and combinations of the vario us embodiments are discussed.

Abstract: A system and method for computer enabled network patient management of medic al devices used in chronic disease management. Utilizing web site and push aler t notification of alert level physiologic data derived via analysis of continuous stream wireless data transmissions from a patient, a full cycle improvement over existing modalities is achieved. Proxy and medical device user integration and access is enabled to achieve further contribution to th e technical advantages of the system.
