    Abstract: An image-forming machine comprises a main body (2) and a process unit (8) detachably mounted on the main body. A supporting-guiding means (416) is mounted in the main body (2) for moving between an elevated position and a lowered position and the process unit (8) is comprised of a first unit (102) and a second unit (104) separably combined with each other. The first unit (102) includes a first frame member (105) which can be mounted on and detached from the supporting-guiding means (416) when the supporting-guiding means (416) is at the elevated position, and a developing device (18) mounted on the first frame member (105) movably over a predetermined direction. The second unit (104) includes a second frame (107) separably combined with the first frame member (105) of the first unit (102) and a rotating drum (12) mounted rotatably on the second frame member (107), a photosensitive member being disposed on the surface of the rotating drum (12); when the supporting guiding means (416) is moved to the lowered position from the elevated position, a predetermined site of the developing device (18) is elastically depressed to a predetermined site of the second unit (104), whereby the developing device (18) and the rotating drum (12) are positioned in a predetermined relationship.

    Abstract: An image-forming machine comprising an image-bearing means having a photosensitive material on its surface, a latent electrostatic image-forming means for forming a latent electrostatic image corresponding to image information on the photosensitive material, a developing device for developing the latent electrostatic image, a transfer means for transferring the toner image from the photosensitive material to a sheet material, a conveying mechanism (72) for conveying the sheet material through a transfer zone, and a receiving section for receiving the sheet material conveyed through the transfer zone. Improvements have been made for size reduction of the machine with regard to the optical means (56) and the receiving section and to the optical means (56) and the developing device (46). An improvement is also made for maintaining a process unit having the image-bearing means and an optical unit having the optical means in a predetermined positional relationship. An improvement is also made for facilitating mounting and detachment of the image-bearing means on and from a process unit frame.

    Abstract: An engagement mechanism for a developing means (43) in an electrostatic copying machine, wherein an original image is guided to a photoreceptor (400) arranged on a rotary drum (41) via a focusing device (26), forming an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor (400) and the electrostatic latent image being positively changed into a toner image by the developing means (43), and the rotary drum (41) is supported in a freely rotatable fashion by the supporting member at the supporting frame body (5) which can be drawn out from a vertical front plate (18) of the copying machine body (1) and a contact surface (507, 508) controlling a horizontal position of the developing means (43) and a guide (505, 506) controlling a vertical position are provided at a fixed position of the supporting member, and furthermore the engagement member (509) rotatable to one direction from the standard position is provided movably toward the rotary drum (41) at the standard position with a constant impetus thereto separately from the supporting member and the developing means (43) is arranged movably toward the rotary drum (41) by engaging an engagement part formed at a fixed position of the engagement member (509) aforementioned with an engagement part formed at the fixed position of the developing means (43).
