    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a gasoline tank for a vehicle, which has less gasoline permeability, which is excellent in impact strength, and which is light, by forming the tank out of polyester resin. CONSTITUTION: A gasoline tank for a vehicle is formed out of polyester resin. The polyester resin should be, for example, polyethylene telephthalate, polyethylene-naphthalate, etc. In forming the tank, a biaxially oriented blow method is employed, in which a preform for forming the tank is formed out of polyester resin first, the preform is oriented in the longitudinal direction, and then it is oriented in the transverse direction through blow-forming. The optimum temperature for orientation is 90 deg. to 140 deg.C for polyethylene- telephthalate, while 140 deg. to 170 deg.C for polyethylene-naphthalate. It is desirable that the thickness of the tank obtained be 700 to 800μm. Thus, the tank obtained has less gasoline permeability and light weight, while it is excellent in impact strength because of the oriented polyester resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a biaxially stretched bottle made of polyester excellent in heat resistance, transparency and ultraviolet barrier properties, reduced in the adsorption quantity of a taste component and an aroma component and possible to re-fill. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially stretched bottle made of polyester possible to re-fill is formed from 95-60 pts.wt. of polyethylene terephthalate [A] and 40-50 pts.wt. of polyethylene naphthalate (the sum total of [A] and [B]; 100 pts.wt.) and characterized by that stretching magnification is 12 times or less and the thickness of a body part is 600-900mum. The body part of the bottle has a haize value of 5% or less and the ultraviolet transmissivity thereof is pref. 60% or less and the methanol adsorption quantity thereof is pref. 1800ppm and the p-xylene adsorption quantity thereof is pref. 120ppm or less.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a foldable hollow vessel having an excellent pressure resistance strength by orientation blow molding in a mold having a bellows like cavity. CONSTITUTION: A polyester hollow vessel has a port 1 and a bellows like body 3 is such a manner that the thickness of the body 3 preferably has a range of 70 to 200μm or preferably 90 to 120μm. If the thickness of the body has the range, it has excellent flavor barrier properties, and even if the vessel is repeatedly used and folded, the decrease in the strength of the vessel is small. When the vessel is molded by using the mold having a bellows like cavity by a blow molding method or preferably a biaxial drawing blow molding method, it is desired that the drawing magnification of the body is 10 times or more or preferably 12 to 20 times, and the longitudinal drawing magnification is twice to four times, and the lateral drawing magnification is preferably 2.5 to 6 times.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding, especially a repeatedly usable bottle, made from a polyester copolymer improved in hydrolysis resistance without detriment to the excellent properties of a conventional polyethylene naphthalate. SOLUTION: This molding is made from a polyester copolymer in which the acid component is 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, and the glycol component comprises ethylene glycol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol in an amount to give a molar ratio of the ethylene glycol to the 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol of 99/1 to 60/40 and 0-5wt.%, based on the polyester copolymer, polytetramethylene glycol. The molding is excellent in heat resistance and transparency as well as in hydrolysis resistance.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin composition excellent in transparency and also in heat resistance and UV screening ability by using a polyester composition consisting of specified structural units. SOLUTION: This composition consists of structural units (a) represented by formula I, structural units (b) represented by formula II and structural units (c) represented by formula III, wherein the amount of the units (c) is 30-200mol when the smaller amount between those of the units (a) and (b) is 100mol. The desirable composition is one obtained by melting and kneading a polyethylene terephthalate forming the structural units (a) and a polyethylene naphthalate forming the structural units (b) in such a manner that the amount of the structural units (c) is 30-200mol when the smaller amount between those of the units (a) and (b) is 100mol.
