Abstract: A bottle molded from a polyester composition comprising 97 to 99.99% by weight of a polyester and 3 o 0.01% by weight of a polyester elastomer, which bottle exhibits dimensional change ratios of not greater than 5% measured in the height direction of the bottle and also not greater than 5% measured in the wall part diameter direction of the bottle and has an overturning angle of at least 10.degree., when the bottle was subjected to a hot bath test in which the bottle is filled with a beverage containing 2.5 gas volume carbon dioxide at 23.degree.C, stoppered and immersed in sealed condition in a hot bath heated at 70.degree.C. Thus, the bottle retains self-standing property without deformation even after it is filled with a carbonated beverage and subjected to heat sterilization.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To avoid deformation of a bottle even when a heated drink is filled by preparing the bottle of a polyester compsn. formed of a polyester and rosins or their derivatives. CONSTITUTION: A bottle 1 with a crystallinity at the center of the bottle trunk part of 25-60% prepd. of a polyester compsn. is prepd. by performing draw blow molding of a preform consisting of 95-99.99wt.% polyester and 0.01-5wt.% rosins or their derivatives in a mold. The draw ratio when this draw blow molding is performed is 6 to 15-fold in terms of area draw ratio. In addition, the crystallinity of the mouth and neck part 2 of this bottle 1 is made in the range of 25-60% and the crystallinity of the bottom part is made in the range of 0-60%. The bottle 1 prepd. thus exhibits excellent heat-resistant characteristics and transparency and can be easily reused to a bottle by melting it after use.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an autonomous bottle which can be reused by a method wherein a bottle is filled with a carbon dioxide-containing beverage having a specified volume at a specified temperature, changes of a bottle height and a barrel diameter at a specified temperature before and after warm bath test in a sealed state are set to below specified percentages and an inversion angle after the test is set to above a specified angle. CONSTITUTION: When a saturated polyester bottle is filled with a carbon dioxide beverage of 2.5 gas volume at 23 deg.C and tested by warm bath test being dipped in a warm bath of 70 deg.C in a sealed state for an hour, the following condition is to be satisfied. That is, a changing rate of dimension of the bottle filled with the carbon dioxide beverage in the direction of height before and after the warm bath test is 5% or below and a changing rate of dimension in the direction of barrel diameter is 5% or below. An inversion angle of the bottle after the warm bath test is 10 deg. or above. The crystallization degree of this saturated polyester bottle is 25-60% at the neck (mouth, mouth cock) and 25-60% at the barrel center, and preferably 25-60% at the central part of the bottom.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bottle made of a polyester compsn. not deformed even if filled with a heated beverage or the like and capable of holding a self-supporting state. SOLUTION: This bottle is composed of a polyester compsn. consisting of 99.9-99.99999wt.% of polyester and 0.1ppm-0.1wt.% of talc and characterized by that the degree of crystallization of the mouth neck part thereof is 25-60% and that of the central part of the body part thereof is 25-60%. A preform composed of the polyester compsn. is subjected to stretch blowing in area stretching magnificaton of 6-15 times to set the degree of crystallization of the central part of the body part of the bottle to 25-60%. By this constitution, a polyester bottle excellent in heat resistance can be efficiently produced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a polyester bottle excellent in heat- and pressure-resistant characteristics. SOLUTION: A polyester bottle is formed of a polyester composition comprising 99.9 to 99.99999wt.% polyester and 0.1ppm to 0.1wt.% talc wherein it is filled with carbonated drink and a rate of dimensional change at the time of a warm bath test after sealing is 5% or less. A preform comprising the above mentioned polyester composition is stretch-blown at an area draw ratio 6 to 15 to mold a bottle whose degree of crystallinity at the center of a bottle body is within a range of 25 to 60%, and a bottom is crystallized before and after the stretch-blowing.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce formaldehyde and acetaldehyde contents by adding a phenol compound, when a dicarboxylic acid and a dihydroxyl compound are subjected to polycondensation in a liquid phase and polycondensation in a solid phase at a temperature not more than the melting point and the resultant polymer is contacted with water and molded. CONSTITUTION: (A) a dicarboxylic acid including terephthalic acid or its ester derivative and a dihydroxy compound including ethylene glycol or its ester derivative are subjected to polycondensation in a liquid phase in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst to manufacture a polyester, (B) the polyester is kept at a temp. not below the crystallization temp. determined by heating and below the melting point for 1 to 30min to cause pre-crystallization, (C) it is further subjected to polycondensation in a solid phase at a temperature below the melting point in an inert gas atmosphere to obtain a polyester with a limiting viscosity of 0.5-1.4dl/g, (D) it is contacted with water at a temperature of 50-150 deg.C for 3min-48hr and (E) it is molded by means of extrusion or injection molding. A phenol compound is added at the A or E process. The content of HCHO and CH3 CHO of the obtained molded material is not more than 2ppm and not more than 15ppm, respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a gasoline tank for a vehicle, which has less gasoline permeability, which is excellent in impact strength, and which is light, by forming the tank out of polyester resin. CONSTITUTION: A gasoline tank for a vehicle is formed out of polyester resin. The polyester resin should be, for example, polyethylene telephthalate, polyethylene-naphthalate, etc. In forming the tank, a biaxially oriented blow method is employed, in which a preform for forming the tank is formed out of polyester resin first, the preform is oriented in the longitudinal direction, and then it is oriented in the transverse direction through blow-forming. The optimum temperature for orientation is 90 deg. to 140 deg.C for polyethylene- telephthalate, while 140 deg. to 170 deg.C for polyethylene-naphthalate. It is desirable that the thickness of the tank obtained be 700 to 800μm. Thus, the tank obtained has less gasoline permeability and light weight, while it is excellent in impact strength because of the oriented polyester resin.
