Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject catalyst consisting of a specific transition metallic compound, a specific Lewis acid, etc., and a specific organoaluminum compound and capable of producing a high-molecular weight polyolefin excellent in polymerization activity, uniform in grain size and high in bulk density. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst consists of (A) a transition metallic compound of formula I or formula II [M is transition metal of the group IVB of the periodic table; R and R are 1-10C hydrocarbon, 1-10C alkoxy, H, halogen, etc.; R and R are 1-10c hydrocarbon or trialkylsilyl; R and R are 1-10C hydrocarbon, trialkylsilyl, 1-10C alkoxy, etc.; (m) is 1 or 2; (n) is 0-4] of the group IVB, etc., of the periodic table, e.g. ethylenebis(2-methyl-1-indenyl)zirconiumdihydride, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C)(i) an organoaluminumoxy compound and/or (ii) a Lewis acid containing a boron atom, e.g. trifluoroboron or an ionic compound such as [tri(n-butyl)ammonium]nonaborate, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which can catalyze the polymerization of an olefin in excellent activity and can give an olefin polymer having a high molecular weight and to provide a method for producing an olefin by using this catalyst. SOLUTION: This catalyst comprises a transition metal (of group IVB in the periodic table) compound having as the ligand a polydentate compound composed of two different cycloalkadienyl groups or substitution products thereof selected from among cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, tetrahydroindenyl and fluorenyl groups and bonded to each other through a hydrocarbon group, a silylene group or a substituted silylene group and an organoaluminumoxy compound.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer having excellent polymerization activity and narrow distribution of molecular weight by copolymerizing alpha-olefin with a cyclic olefin in the presence of a catalyst formed from a specific transition metal compound and organoaluminumoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:alpha-Olefin is copolymerized with a cyclic olefin in the presence of a catalyst formed (A) a transition metal compound [e.g. isopropylidene(cyclopentadienyl-methylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride] of the group IVB of periodic table using a multidentate ligand compound bonded through a hydrocarbon group or (substituted) silylene group by at least two different cycloalkadienyl groups or substituent group thereof as a ligand and (B) an organoaluminumoxy compound [e.g. aluminooxane expressed by the formula (R and R2 are methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl; m is >=2) to provide the aimed copolymer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase activity to a high level and improve the selectivity of a specific product by using at least, one type of organic acid salt, inorganic acid salt and complex compound of nickel, and specified organic aluminum oxycompound, and trivalent phosphide expressed by a specific formula as ingredients. CONSTITUTION:At least, one type of nickel compound selected from among nickel organic acid salt such as nickel naphthenate, and nickel inorganic acid salt such as nickel chloride, and nickel complex such as bis(acetylacetonato) nickel; organic aluminum oxycompound B with at least, three aluminum atoms in one molecule; and a trivalent phosphide expressed by formula, e.g. trimethylphosphine are used as ingredients. Further, these three chemical compounds are mixed and allowed to come in contact with the other at-80 to 250 deg.C at a molar ratio of A/B set to about 100 to 1/10000 and C/B set to about 400 to 4/10000. In addition, R to R of the formula is independently a 1 to 10C hydrocarbon group or substituted hydrocarbon group.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new transition metallic compound, having a specific structure and excellent polymerization activity and capable of producing a polyolefin, having narrow molecular weight and composition distributions, high stereoregularity and excellent in heat resistance and rigidity. CONSTITUTION:The new transition metallic compound is expressed by the formula (M is group IVa, Va or VIa transition metal; R and R are H, halogen, 1-20C hydrocarbon, etc.; R to R are H, halogen, etc.; at least one set of R and R , R and R and R and R is mutually bound to form aromatic ring; X and X are H, oxygen-containing group, etc.; Y is divalent silicon-containing group, S, NR , etc.; R is H, etc.). This transition metallic compound is used as a catalyst component for polymerizing an olefin. The compound may be blended with a compound, reactive therewith and forming an ion pair and an organoaluminumoxy compound for use. Furthermore, an organoaluminum compound may be added. The catalyst for polymerizing the olefin is obtained by blending a solid catalyst component containing this transition metallic compound and at least one selected from the organoaluminumoxy compound and the compound, reactive with the transition metallic compound and forming the ion pair supported on a fine particulate carrier with, as necessary, the organoaluminum compound and an olefinic polymer produced by prepolymerization.
