THE ETHYLENE/C5-C20 (ALPHA)-OLEFIN RANDOM COPOLYMER (A) IS A COPOLYMER COMPRISING ETHYLENE AND AN (ALPHA)-OLEFIN OF 5 TO 20 CARBON ATOMS AND HAS THE PROPERTIES: THE DENSITY IS IN THE RANGE OF 0.870 TO 0.900 G/CM3; THE MELT FLOW RATE (MFR, ASTM D 1238, 190?C, LOAD OF 2.16 KG) IS IN THERANGE OF 0.01 TO 50 G/10 MIN; AND THE TEMPERATURE (TM (?C)) AT THE POSITION OF THE MAXIMUM PEAK OF AN ENDOTHERM CURVE OF THIS COPOLYMER MEASURED BY DSC AND THE DENSITY (D (G/CM3)) SATISFY A SPECIFIC RELATION. THE POLYPROPYLENE FILM HAS EXCELLENT TRANSPARENCY, IMPACT RESISTANCE (FILM IMPACT STRENGTH) AND LOW-TEMPERATURE HEAT-SEALING PROPERTIES, AND BESIDES THE FILM SHOWS EXCELLENT TENSILE PROPERTIES, HEAT-SEALING STRENGTH PROPERTIES, BLOCKING RESISTANCE AND SLIP PROPERTIES.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject film for foods package, comprising a respectively specific crystalline polypropylene and the copolymer, having excellent transpar ency and excellent in low temperature-drawing property, low temperature heat- shrinking property and blocking-resistant property. SOLUTION: This film comprises a polypropylene composition containing (A) 50-95 pts.wt. of a crystalline polypropylene with a melt index of 0.1-20 and (B) 5-50pts.wt. of a propylene- and 1-butene random copolymer and is drawn in at least one direction of longitudinal and transverse directions. The component B contains 50-95 mole % of a constitution unit deriving from propylene and 5-50 mole % of a constitution unit deriving from 1-butene, and possesses a limiting viscosity of 0.1-12dl/g which is measured in decaline at 135 deg.C, a molecular weight distribution of more than 3 which is obtained by get permeation chromatography and a parameter B value of 1.0-1.5 indicating a random property of copolymerization monomer chain distribution. Moreover, in order to obtain the component B, it is preferable to carry out copolymerization in the presence of a catalyst for olefin polymerization containing a transition metal compound, e.g. rac-dimethylsilylene-bis[1-(2,7-dimethyl-4-ethylidenyl]-zirconium dichloride or the like.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the low-temp. heat sealability, hot tack properties, impact resistance, unsealability, and extrudability of a polyethylene resin compsn. for a laminated film by compounding a specific linear low-density PE resin, a linear medium- to high-density PE resin, and a high-pressure low-density PE resin. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. comprises 40-65wt.% linear low-density PE resin which is a copolymer produced by copolymerizing ethylene and 1-10mol% 4C or higher α-olefin using a metallocene catalyst and has a melt flow rate (190 deg.C) of 0.1-1.0g/10min. a density of 0.900-0.918g/cm , and a mol.wt. distribution (Muslin) by GPC of 1.5-3.5, 30-55wt.% linear medium-to high-density PE resin which is an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene and 10 mol % or lower 3-20C α-olefin and has a melt flow rate of 5.0-8.0, a density of 0.910-970g/cm , and a mol.wt. distribution of 2.0-5.0, and 5-30wt.% high-pressure low-density PE resin which is an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene and 2-10mol% vinyl acetate and has a density of 0.915-0.924g/cm3.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polypropylene film excellent in low-temp. sealability by compound an ethylene-α-olefin random copolymer having specified density and flow rate with a crystalline polypropylene in a specified wt. ratio. SOLUTION: Ethylene and a 5-20C α-olefin are copolymerized in the presence of a metallocene catalyst to give an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer which has a density of 0.870-0.900g/cm and a melt flow rate (190 deg.C, 2.16kg load) of 0.01-50g/10min and satisfies the relation that when 0.885 Tm>=(14d/15)×1,000-744 and, when 0.870 Tm ); and Tm ( deg.C) is the temp. of the max. peak position in the endothermic curve obtd. with a differential scanning calorimeter]. The copolymer is kneaded together with a crystalline polypropylene in a wt. ratio of (5:95)-(60:40) and formed into a film by the T-die method, etc., to give the objective polypropylene film.
