Abstract: A flexible resin composition of the invention comprises a polyethylene resin (A) and an ethylene-α-olefin random copolymer (B) comprising ethylene and a C3-C20 α-olefin at a specific ratio, and is characterized in that the MFR and density of the polyethylene resin (A) and the density, intrinsic viscosity, glass transition temperature, crystallinity, molecular weight distribution, B value, and gθ * value of the copolymer (B) lie respectively within specific ranges. This composition is excellent in melt flow characteristics, i.e., moldability, and can give a molded article excellent in the balance between flexibility and heat resistance. An ethylene-α-olefin copolymer resin composition of the invention comprises (A-α) a linear ethylene-α-olefin copolymer comprising ethylene and a C4-C20 α-olefin and (B-α) a long-chain branched ethylene-α-olefin random copolymer comprising ethylene and a C3-C20 α-olefin at a specific ratio, and the density and MFR of the copolymer (A-α) and the density, MFR, intrinsic viscosity, glass transition temperature, crystallinity, molecular weight distribution, B value, and gθ * value of the copolymer (B-α) lie respectively within specific ranges. A film of the invention is made from this resin composition. This ethylene-α-olefin copolymer resin composition is excellent in heat stability and high-speed moldability, and can give a film excellent in mechanical strength properties, low-temperature heat sealability, stability of seal, slip characteristics, antiblocking properties, handleability, and adaptability to high-speed filling in automatic filling and packaging. The obtained film also exhibits these effects.

Abstract: A composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polyethylene resin (A) and 2 to 5000 parts by weight of a linear ethylene-α-olefin random copolymer (B) comprising ethylene and a C6-C20 α-olefin, wherein the polyethylene resin (A) has: (a) an MFR (ASTM D 1238, 190 °C, load of 2.16 kg) of 0.1 to 200 g/10 min and (b) a density of 0.901 to 0.970 g/cm3 and the copolymer (B) has: (a) a density of 0.870 to 0.900 g/cm3, (b) an intrinsic viscosity [θ] of 0.3 to 3.0 dl/g as determined at 135 °C in decalin, (c) a glass transition temperature (Tg) of -50°C or below, (d) a crystallinity of less than 40 % as determined by X-ray diffractometry, (e) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.0 or below as determined by GPC, (f) a B value of 1.0 to 1.4 as determined by 13C-NMR spectroscopy according to a specific equation and (g) a g θ* value exceeding 0.95, the g θ* value being a [θ]/[θ]¿blank? ratio wherein [θ] is the above intrinsic viscosity (b) and [θ]blank is the intrinsic viscosity of a linear ethylene-propylene copolymer having the same weight-average molecular weight as that of the copolymer (B) (as determined by the light scattering method) and an ethylene content of 70 mole %. This resin composition can give a molded article excellent in flexibility and tensile characteristics.

Abstract: A novel propylene elastomer having such characteristics that: (1) it is composed of 50-95 mole % of units derived from propylene and 50-5 mole % of units derived from 1-butene, (2) it has a triad tracticity (mm faction) of at least 90 % as determined by 13C-NMR spectrometry (in hexachlorobutadiene using tetramethylsilane as the internal standard), (3) it has a limiting viscosity of 0.1-12 dl/g (at 135 °C in decalin), (4) it has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3 or less, and (5) it has a randomness parameter (B) of 1.0 to 1.5, preferably 1.0 to 1.3. In addition, it is desirable that: (6) it has a melting point (Tm) of 60-140 °C and the following relationship holds between the Tm and the 1-butene unit content (M, mole %): -2.6 M + 130 « Tm « -2.3 M + 155, (7) the following relationship holds between the degree of crystallinity (C) and the 1-butene unit content (M, mole %) C » -1.5 M + 75, the elastomer is excellent in rigidity, heat and scratch resistances, transparency, heat sealability, and blocking resistance. It can be produced by using a specified transition metal compound as the catalyst.

Each of the random copolymers (B-1) and (B-2) has an intrinsic viscosity [ eta ] of 1.5 to 3.5 dl/g as measured in decalin, a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not higher than -50 DEG C, a crystallinity of less than 20 % as measured by X-ray diffractometry, a randomness parameter (B value) of 1.0 to 1.4 as measured by C-NMR spectroscopy. With respect to a melting point as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) as the main peak, the copolymer (B-1) has a value of not higher than 60 DEG C, while the copolymer (B-2) has a value of not higher than 80 DEG C.

A film of the invention is made from this resin composition. This ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer resin composition is excellent in heat stability and high-speed moldability, and can give a film excellent in mechanical strength properties, low-temperature heat sealability, stability of seal, slip characteristics, antiblocking properties, handleability, and adaptability to high-speed filling in automatic filling and packaging.
