Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain culture soil for raising seedlings, free from hindrance for raising seedlings, excellent in strength and storage stability and suitable for transplantation of crop seedling due to mechanic. CONSTITUTION: This culture soil for raising seedlings is obtained by adding 0.1-5wt.%, preferably 0.1-1.5wt.% of a water-soluble acrylamide-based polymer obtained by copolymerizing 0.5-10mol% of 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic aid or its salt and/or 0.5-10mol% of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid such as itaconic acid or its salt with an acrylamide to soil.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the cultivation soil for raising seedlings substantially not injuring the roots of the crop seedlings on the transplantation of the seedlings with machines and permitting to form the root balls having good rooting properties. CONSTITUTION:The cultivation soil for raising the seedlings comprises a soil containing 0.1-1.5wt.% of sodium polyacrylate as a binder. The soil gives seedings having root balls sufficiently strong for the transplantation of the seedlings with a machine without inhibiting the germination of the plants and the growth of the young seedlings. The soil especially does not limit the target plants and is also excellent in the safety.
