Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector assembly in which a terminal module independent from the whole connector housing is efficiently used. SOLUTION: This electric connector assembly is provided with a pair of modular sub-assemblies, and each has the external housing having a fitting face to form a fitting part to be fitted to a complementary connector in the fitting direction. Furthermore, this external housing also has a side face having a cavity. A terminal module includes dielectric body inner housing arranged in the cavity. A plurality of the terminals are mounted on the inner housing and its contact part is engaged with an appropriate contact of the complementary counterpart connector at the fitting part. Therefore, the external housing of the modular sub-assemblies is joined with its side face and conceals the terminal module therein. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
