    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To terminate the metal shield of a high speed cable to a terminal member, by making it possible to joint the metal shield of a cable in each grip arm, to an earthed plate, while the exposed part of the metal shield is in the grip arm. SOLUTION: A high speed signal transmission terminal module 30 is inserted to the passage 31 of an insulating housing 12 from the rear side. The module 30 includes a pair of same terminal blockes 30a and 30b, and an earthing plate 32 is clamped between the terminal blocks. The blocks 30a and 30b include posts 34 and recesses. The posts 34 are extended from the blocks 30a and 30b, to the recesses of the other side blocks through the hole 44 of the plate 32, and the blocks 30a and 30b are fixed to the plate 32 as subassemblies. When the assembly is inserted to the passage 31 of the housing 12, the blocks 30a and 30b clamp the plate 32. The module 30 is held in the housing 12 by the inclined ratches 36 of the blocks 30a and 30b.

    Abstract: Terminal pins are mounted with a force fit into holes in a circuit board. The circuit board is placed over a backing plate having holes aligned with the circuit board holes and of large enough cross section freely to receive a terminal pin. A loading plate is placed over the circuit board and has holes each sized slidingly to receive a single terminal pin. A feeding plate having a thickness at least approximately equal to the terminal pin length is placed over the loading plate, and the feeding plate has holes of a diameter larger than about one-third of the terminal pin length. A number of terminal pins are placed on the upper surface of the feeding plate, and the feeding plate, loading plate, circuit board and backing plate are all vibrated. During the vibration a group of terminal pins are loaded into each feeding plate hole, and a single terminal pin is loaded into each loading plate hole. The feeding plate is removed from the loading plate and the excess pins are removed leaving a single terminal pin in each loading plate hole. The terminal pins are then pressed through the loading plate into the circuit board.

    Abstract: A wire transferring assembly for a wire harness assembly machine has two adjoining termination stations. First connector elements are advanced in a reciprocating nest from a supply of connector elements into contact with wires extending from a positioning head and terminated thereto. After termination, to the wires, the connector elements are drawn away in the nest from the wire feed source and the wires are cut at their ends opposite the first connector elements. The cut wires are clamped onto a moveable clamping head and maintained in a preselected order while they are transferred to a second termination location, where a row of second connector elements are advanced into contact with the wire ends and terminated thereto.

    Abstract: A wire harness-making machine includes a feeding assembly which separates successive first wire connectors and a transfer nest which shuttles the first array of connectors from a first connector advancement track to a first termination station. Multiple wires are fed to the first termination station where first free ends of it are terminated to the first connector. Once terminated to the multiple wires, the first connector is shuttled back to the first connector advancement track. The first connector is then advanced along a feedpath and a set of second free ends of the wires are transferred to a second termination station while maintaining the order of the wires. A second connector is advanced from a second feed track into the second termination station where it is terminated to the second wire free ends at the same time a succeeding first set of wire free ends is terminated at the first termination station.
