Abstract: A memory card connector (10) is provided with an insulating housing (12) having a rear terminal-mounting section (26) which mounts a plurality of terminals having contact portions for engaging appropriate contacts on a memory card (22). A metal shell (14) is mounted on the housing and combines therewith to define a cavity having a front insertion opening to permit insertion and withdrawal of the memory card into and out of the connector. A card eject mechanism includes a slider (50) movably mounted on the housing and engageable with the memory card for movement therewith into and out of the cavity. The slider has a cam slot (52) defining movement of the card in the card-insertion and card-withdrawal directions. A cam pin (64) is operatively engageable in the cam slot of the slider. The cam pin (64) is formed from the metal shell.

Abstract: A memory card connector includes a front receptacle area communicating with an interior cavity for receiving a memory card. The connector has an L-shaped insulating housing which includes a rear terminal-mounting section extending transversely across a rear of the cavity, and a longitudinal side wall section extending forwardly of one end of the rear section defining one side of the cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted in a side-by-side array along the rear terminal-mounting section of the housing and have contact portions at a rear of the cavity for engaging contacts on the memory card. A metal shell covers at least a portion of the insulating housing and includes a cover plate defining a top of the cavity and a longitudinal side wall plate depending from the cover plate and defining a side of the cavity opposite said side defined by the longitudinal side wall section of the housing.

Abstract: A memory card connector has an interior cavity into which a memory card is inserted to a temporary retained position and then to a fully inserted position. The connector includes a n insulating housing having a rear terminal-mounting section at a rear of the cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the terminal-mounting section and have contact portions for engaging contacts on the memory card. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith. The slider is slidable along a side wall of the housing. The slider has a projection engageable in a recess in a side of the memory card. A sheet metal shell covers at least a portion of he insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the cavity. A side wall plate depends from the cover plate and overlies at least a portion of the side wall of the housing. A spring structure is stamped and formed out of an opening in the side wall plate and is engageable with the slider to bias the projection of the slider into the recess in the memory card. The spring structure is integral with the side wall plate at opposite edges of the opening.

Abstract: A memory card connector includes a housing defining at least part of a card-receiving cavity of the connector and including a bottom wall and a side wall joined to the bottom wall. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith. The slider is slidable along an inside of the side wall of the housing. The slider has a projection engageable in a recess in a side of the memory card. The projection causes the slider to be biased outwardly toward the side wall if the memory card is inserted into the cavity in an incorrect orientation. A slit is formed adjacent a juncture between the bottom wall and the side wall of the housing to allow the side wall to yield in the event that the slider is biased outwardly against the side wall in response to the incorrectly inserted memory card.

Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a receptacle for receiving a complementary mating connecting device. A shutter is pivotally mounted on the housing for pivotal movement in an angular range between a closed position blocking the receptacle and an open position allowing mating of the complementary mating connecting device. The shutter includes a pivot shaft insertable transversely into a bearing hole in the housing. The bearing hole has a given width and a restricted mouth of a width less than the given width.
