    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield connector device in which an outside shielding shell of a connector device is used in order to lock a terminal module inside in a connector housing. SOLUTION: A shield connector device is composed of a dielectric housing 24 having a module storage cavity 63. A terminal module 38 is inserted in the module storage cavity 63. A conductive shielding shell 52 is disposed to at least a part of the housing. The conductive shielding shell 52 has a locking part 60 which penetrates through the housing and protrude in an engagement location with the terminal module 38 in order to lock the terminal module 38 in the module storage cavity.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an electric connector module holding a compact and complicated circuit or a terminal during an over-molding process and maintaining an adequate position of the circuit. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for an electric connector module includes a stage to die a blank 36 containing plural circuits 18 out of a conductive sheet metal material. At least two circuits 18 are jointed by a web part 38 of the sheet metal material. The died blank 36 is disposed on a first mold die. The first mold die is closed by a second mold die, and at the same time, the web part 38 is sheared. An insulating housing is over-molded around the sheared circuit 18, in order to form the connector module.

    Abstract: An IC connector (12) is adapted for connecting an IC card (18) having a terminal array. The connector includes a base member (14) having a plurality of electrically conductive contacts (44) for engaging the terminal array of the IC card. A cover (16) is mounted on the base member for pivotal movement toward and away from one side of the base member. The cover has a receptacle means (22) for securing the IC card thereon. The IC card (18) is received for sliding movement relative to the cover (16) between a preload position and a latched position. A biasing shoulder (52) on the base member (14) slides the IC card from its preload position to its latched position automatically in response to closing of the cover (16). A latch (54) on the base member (14) engages the IC card in its latched position to lock the cover and IC card in a closed position on the base member. A release (58) on the base member (14) moves the biasing shoulder (52) out of engagement with the IC card to allow the IC card to be moved back to its preload position out of engagement with the latch (54), whereby the cover and IC card can be pivoted back to an open position.

    Abstract: An electrical connector (150) includes a dielectric housing (152) having a terminal-receiving passage (22) defining a terminal-insertion axis for receiving a mating terminal member. A stamped and formed sheet metal contact member (154) has a contact end disposed in the passage and a terminal end (36) projecting from the housing. The housing has top and bottom walls, with the terminal-receiving passage extending in a direction therebetween. A slot (156) is provided in a side wall (18) of the housing communicating with the passage. The contact end of the contact member is inserted into the slot and is generally planar and has a terminal-receiving slot (38c). The plane of the contact end and the slot are disposed generally transverse to the terminal-insertion axis.     Abstract: A terminal module is provided for use in an electrical connector. The module includes a plurality of conductive terminals arranged in a generally parallel side-by-side array. Each terminal includes a pair of opposite end sections. A pair of holding sections are located respectively adjacent to and inside the end sections. A central section is located between the holding sections. A dielectric plastic housing is overmolded about the holding sections leaving the opposite end sections exposed. The overmolded housing leaves a substantial portion of the central section exposed.

    Abstract: A connector assembly is provided with opposing and interengageable first and second connector components. Each of the two components has internal cavities that contain terminal assemblies of either plug or receptacle structure and may further include either a plurality of power terminals or differential signal terminals. The terminals have contact portions, tail portions and interconnecting portions that are partially encapsulated by an insulative outer support frames. The shell forms a wafer and two such wafers are combined together to form a terminal assembly. The terminal assemblies are identical in shape, other than for an engagement means that serves to hold two subframes together as a single assembly.

    Abstract: An IC connector (12) is adapted for connecting an IC card (18) having a terminal array. The connector includes a base member (14) having a plurality of electrically conductive contacts (44) for engaging the terminal array of the IC card.     Abstract: A method of manufacturing electrical terminals and/or a terminal module (36) is disclosed. The method includes the steps of stamping from a sheet of metal material a blank (10) for a plurality of elongated terminals having contact portions (30) at one end and terminal portions (28a,28b) at the other end and joining the terminals by a tie bar (16) intermediate the ends. The contact portions (30) of the respective terminals are separated from each other by the stamping step. The terminal portions (28a,28b) remain joined in the sheet of metal after the stamping step. The blank then is sheared to separate the terminal portions (28a,28b). The tie bar (16) is cut to separate the terminals. In order to form a terminal module (36), a dielectric housing (34) is overmolded about the terminals intermediate the ends thereof, with the tie bar (16) being located outside the housing and removed after the overmolding process.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a front mating face and mounting a plurality of terminals. A latching cavity is formed in the front mating face for receiving a latch member from a complementary mating device. The cavity includes opposite side walls. A latch/solder member is mounted on the housing and includes a latch plate in the latching cavity for latching engagement by the latch member of the complementary connecting device, and a solder plate at the board-mounting face of the housing. A blocking rib spans the side walls of the latching cavity to strengthen the housing, and the locking rib prevents the latch member of the complementary connecting device from being inserted into the cavity on a wrong side of the latch plate.
